Pegasus transports the second stage of New Glenn, while You’ll Thank Me Later carries SpaceX equipment
Photographer Max Evans shared a unique image featuring two specialized barges used in U.S. space programs.
Pegasus, originally designed to transport external fuel tanks for space shuttles, has since been modified for the delivery of the central stages of the SLS rocket and other oversized equipment. The barge is currently being utilized to deliver the GS-2 second stage of Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket to the Stennis Space Center.

The second barge, You’ll Thank Me Later, operates for SpaceX, transporting equipment for the Starship program between Cape Canaveral in Florida and the Starbase facility in Texas. Its design accommodates the transportation of both the Super Heavy booster and the Starship itself. These platforms enable companies to shift large rocket components via sea, reducing reliance on ground infrastructure.

Both barges play a critical logistical role in preparing modern heavy-lift rockets for testing and launches. Pegasus supports projects for NASA and Blue Origin, while You’ll Thank Me Later has become one of the primary transport vessels for SpaceX’s Starship.

This is the first instance where they can be seen together in such close proximity, offering a rare chance to witness two vessels specifically designed for the transportation of large-scale space equipment. — Max EvansИсточник
