FOR THE 1-YEAR STUDENTS OF THE faculty of general medicine

II term (spring), ACADEMIC YEAR

1.  Introduction to the Law: definitions, tasks, objects of the study, groups of Legal Sciences. Theory of State and of Law as a fundamental science.

2. The System of Law: notion, structure, branches and institutions of Law. Basic, derivative (special), and procedural branches of Law. Concepts of Public Law and Private Law. The main modern Systems of Law. International Law as a special system of Law.

3. Law in the system of the social regulation. Law: essence, value, and functions. The Legal Regulation of social relations: definition, types. A Rule of Law: notion, characteristics, and structure (hypothesis, disposition, penalty). Types of the Rules of Law and their examples (allowing, binding, and inhibiting regulations).

4. State and a State Authority. The Authority: notion, simple (native) and complex (organized) forms of Authority. Methods of the State Authority.

5. The State in the political system of the society. The main distinguishing features of the State. External and Internal Functions of State.

6. General regularities and Theories of State Origin: theological, androcratic, contractual, psychological, economic (class) theories and violence theory.

7. Basic principles of the State Organization: Government by People (a Democracy), Separation of Powers (delimitation of Legislative, Executive, and Judicial Authorities), a Dominance of law.

8. The present day State forms. Forms of the government: notion, types, characteristics. Monarchy: general organization, Absolute and Limited (constitutional) Monarchies, examples. Republic: general organization, Presidential, Parliamentary, and Mix Republics, examples.

9. Forms of the State structure: notion, types, characteristics, and examples. Simple forms (a Unitary State) and complex forms of the state structure: Federation, Confederation, Empire, Union.

10. The Political Regime (Political System): notion, Democratic and Antidemocratic Regimes, characteristics, examples. Types of Authoritarian Regimes: Totalitarian, Dictatorial, Racist, and Military Regimes. The Rule-of-law state and its characteristics.

Themes of PRACTICAL CLASSES IN law

1. The System of Law. Basic branches of Law: Constitutional (State), Administrative, Civil, and Criminal Law. Administrative, Civil, and Criminal Procedures. Special branches of Law: Family, Labor, Housing, Agrarian (land), Financial, Ecological, Medical law, and etc.

2. Sources of Law in the Legal System of foreign countries: Legal Practices (customs, tradition and rules of conduct), Religious Texts, Juridical precedent, Regulatory Legal Acts, examples. The main principles of the *****le-making authorities in Russia and abroad.
