Summer tours

Summer Excursion to Kizhi Museum

~11:30 - Departure from Petrozavodsk to Kizhi by hydrofoil. Travel time is 1 hour 15 minutes one way.

Three-hour Kizhi excursion includes Kizhi Pogost with the churches of the

Transfiguration (1714), Intercession (1764), chapels and traditional wooden houses.

Excursion to Kivach Waterfalls and Nature Reserve

08:00 - We start this nature tour at your hotel in Petrozavodsk.

Transfer to Kivach Waterfalls and Nature Reserve located in about 90 km from Petrozavodsk.

~09:30 - Upon arrival we observe the Waterfalls and explore the visitor's area of the Nature Reserve which is opened for general public.

Together with the Reserve specialist we continue with the eco tour to the preserved areas of Kivach Nature Reserve. We walk along 3-km long ecological trail which goes through the pine forest along marshlands and a hidden forest lake. We learn about plants and animals of Karelia, observe trees, flowers, lichens, mosses, berries and mushrooms. Among the bird species we may see ravens and red-throated divers.

~13:00 - Leave back to Petrozavodsk.

~14:15 - Return to Petrozavodsk.

Our hovercraft captain drives the hovercraft through the icy hummocks of the Onego Lake towards Kizhi Island, which is located in 60 km from the city.

~11:00 - Arrival to Kizhi.

Excursion to Old Karelian Villages

~10:00 - We start from your hotel in Petrozavodsk and drive to the southeastern direction to visit old Karelian villages.

Karelians are an ethnological group of Finno-Ugrian peoples, which inhabited this area thousands of years ago and still live there.

At a distance of 60 km from Petrozavodsk we reach the village of Man'ga, which was founded in the middle of the 16th century. We walk up hill to observe the Chapel of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin, built in the 18th century and a nice view opens at the village and surroundings from the hill.

We continue our trip to the historic village of Kinerma (45 km). In Kinerma, we get acquainted with the traditional wooden architecture of the 19th and the early 20th Centuries, visit the Chapel of our Lady of Smolensk (18th Century) and meet the local people and observe their lifestyle.

Lunch is served in a traditional wooden house.

After lunch we start our trip back to Petrozavodsk (about 100 km).

~15:00 - Return to Petrozavodsk.

04:30 (06:30) - We start early in the morning from the hotel in Petrozavodsk for a full day tour to the sacred Valaam Monastery situated on Valaam Island in the Ladoga Lake. 250 km drive to the town of Sortavala takes about 3-4 hours.

09:00 (11:00) - In Sortavala, a fast boat takes us to Valaam (1 hour ride).

On Valaam we visit the Cathedral of the Transfiguration and small hermitages (sketes), listen to Valaam choir and taste monastery dishes in the Refectory.

15:00 (17:00) - Boat takes us back to Sortavala, and on the way to Petrozavodsk optional stops can be made to take pictures of Karelian Villages and nature around.

~20:00 (22:00) - Return to Petrozavodsk.

Excursion to Petroglyphs

Transfer to the Onego Lake Petroglyphs by motorboat. Roundtrip ride by the motorboat takes about 4-5 hours, about 2 hours are spent at Petroglyphs. The tour is a subject to weather conditions.

Passing 3 rapids of grades 1 and 2.
