Урок в 10 классе на тему «Living on the Edge»

План урока

Цель: ознакомить учащихся с некоторыми молодежными группировками, развивать

познавательный интерес, расширять кругозор, формировать положительную мотивацию к изучению языка.

Задачи: практиковать в чтении с извлечением основной информации, практиковать

понимание новой лексики через контекст, учить выражать свое мнение и обмениваться мнениями.

Оборудование: компьютер, проектор, экран, учебник.

Ход урока:

1.Оргмомент.

2.Сообщение темы.

(на экране слайд№1: «Living on the edge» means «being extreme» in some way).

The theme of our class is «Living on the edge». It means «being extreme» in some way.

3. Warm up.

(на экране слайд№2: 4 фотографии представителей неформальных движений)

Look at the photos on the screen. These people are the representatives of different youth movements. Match the titles of the movements to the photos.

How do you guess?

(Hippies: long hair, torn jeans clothes;

Punks: strange dyed hairstyle, pierced earlobes;

Goths: white make-up, black hair, lips, black clothes;

Straight edge: the letters on the T-shirt, pierced earlobes, tattoos).

4. Pre-reading work.

«Straight edge» is the subject we’ll talk about. What do you think these letters mean?

5. Reading.

You are going to read an article about this youth group. But before read the introduction to the article and put ticks by the expressions, which you think describe their lifestyle.
