English Year”
Pupil –
Months – месяцы (January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December.)
Hello, boys and girls, dear guests and teachers. We want to show you the performance to different holidays of the English year. So let’s start.
Do you know how many months there are in a year and what they are.
2: Great, I see you know the in Russian, but who can name them in English. Not bad! But there are some children who don’t know the names of English months. Look at the stage.
Pupil: Sept. Oct. Nov. Dec. J… j…j… March, April, May…(пауза)…
Pupil:
Months: Speak English, please. We don’t understand you.
Pupil: Who are you?
Months: We’re the twelve little men, who make the year go,
Starting over again.
We’re the twelve little men – Do you remember them?
Making sunshine and snow.
We’re the twelve little men, who make the year go,
Do you remember them?
Pupil: You are twelve English months! Great, tell me, please, about yourself.
Months: O. K.
Snowflakes
Snowflakes fall on trees and walk,
Snowflakes fall as white as chalk.
Snowflakes fall into my hand,
Snowflakes brighten up our land.
Snowflakes are falling down. I think winter months are coming here.
January: I’m January. I’m the first month of the year. My favourite holiday is New Year.
Pupil: Oh, I like New Year very much, too. And all children like this holiday.
January: Maybe they know a famous song «New Year’s Tree»?
Pupil: Yes, of course. And they can sing that song very well. (Обращается к зрителям): Children, who can sing a song « New Year’s Tree »?
Children: We can.
Pupil: Children, come here and sing the song for January.
New Years’ Tree»
February: And I’m February. I come after January. Children, do you know what holiday I have?
4 form: St. Valentine’s Day.
February: You are right. So I like love songs. Please, sing one of these songs for me.
But before singing I want you to find out why this holiday is called so. There are several legends about the background of this festival. One of them says, St. Valentine was a Christian that lived in ancient Rome. He didn’t believe in Roman gods, that’s why he was put into prison. He was a great friend of children who missed him and brought him loving notes. Before his death he sent a farewell letter and signed it “From you Valentine”. That’s why we exchange friendly messages on this day.
2: What symbols of this holiday do you know? Right you are. Valentines, flowers, stars, sweets, cupids.
Звучат песни «Love Me Tender» и «Green Fields»
Pupil: I know you are March, the first spring month. I think you like songs about mothers.
March: Certainly! I hope your friends will sing such song for me.
Исполняется песня «My Dear Mommy».
April: What a funny song! And I’m funny too.
Pupil: Why?
April: Because there is a very funny day in April. Children, do you know what it is?
Children: April Fool’s Day.
Our pupils can dance a funny dance for you, April. Enjoy it!
.
Look! What nice children! They’re sunny, light and bright!
2: I think they’re Summer months. There are wearing T-shorts, shorts and sandals. What do you think? What months are they?
May: In Russia May is the last spring month, but in Great Britain I am the first summer month, and June, July and August are summer months too.
We are summer months.
June: So, there are four summer months in Great Britain.
May: In the merry month of May
All the butterflies are gay.
They all dance and sing and say:
Welcome, welcome, merry May.
June: Come, my children, come away
For the sun shines bright today.
Little children come with me
Birds and trees and flowers to see!
July: Get your hats and come away,
For it is a pleasant day.
August: I like flowers that are bright,
I like flowers that are white,
I like flowers that are blue,
I like red and yellow flowers too.
Our pupils know the song about seasons.
Звучит песня «Good Morning».
Pupil: I know you, September.
September: Why do you know me?
Pupil: On the first of September all children in Russia go to school after their summer holidays and every English lesson we write your name on the blackboard and in our copybooks.
September: That’s why I like songs about school and pupils.
Pupil: I know you, September.
September: Why do you know me?
Pupil: On the first of September all children in Russia go to school after their summer holidays and every English lesson we write your name on the blackboard and in our copybooks.
September: That’s why I like songs about school and pupils.
October: September is the first autumn month and I’m the second. You all know that on the thirty-first of October people in English speaking countries celebrate the most famous autumn festival.
What’s the matter? Somebody is coming: witches, pirates, spidermen and monsters!
The sky is blue, the sky is green,
Have you got a penny for Halloween.
Halloween, Halloween.
Ghosts and witches can be seen.
Trick or Treat, Trick or Treat!
Give us something good to eat.
Nice to see you!
November: I’m November. In Russia November is autumn month, but in Great Britain I’m the first winter month and December is my brother.
December: I’m the last month in a year. I’m a very merry month because I have the best holiday: Christmas!
Let’s sing merry songs about Chistmas!
Jingle Bells” and Silent Night
December: My dear friends! You know many different songs!
Months: We had a good time with you. Thanks!
Pupil: And now I have learnt the names of all months.
This is the end of our performance. Good bye!
