Where is Stonehenge? What can we see there? Some people believe it was an old Druid temple. What did Druids do there? Are there some legends about this place? Who lived there in the fifth century? What do you know about Merlin? Who wanted to build a monument on Salisbury Plain? What did Ambrosius and his soldiers have to bring on Salisbury Plain? Who helped them? Whose grave is under these stones? (Учащиеся отвечают на вопросы учителя фронтально).
3. Контроль домашнего задания.
Т: Tell about the legends of Stonehenge, please. (1—2 учащихся рассказывают о гипотезах постройки Стоунхенджа). A Legend about Stonehenge.
Pi: In the fifth century there was a magic place Camelot in England. The kings of Camelot were kind and strong. Their best friend was Merlin. He was a great wizard.
It happened after war. A lot of soldiers died for their country and the king.
The king's brother Ambrosius wanted to build a monument to his soldiers. And he withed to bring the stones from Ireland. No man of our time could build it. The stones are huge and nobody on earth is strong enough to move them The giants brought them to Ireland from Africa. They used the stones to cure diseases. Ambrosius and his soldiers went to Ireland and found the huge stone ring, but they couldn't move it Finally, Merlin used his magic and brought the stones to this place. The legend also says that Merlin's grave is under these stones.
4. Введение нового лексического материала и практика в чтении и обсуждении прочитанного.
