Тема: Что заставляет тебя помогать другим людям?

Цели:

1)  социокультурный аспект – знакомство с мнением зарубежных сверстников о благотворительности и помощи другим людям;

2)  развивающий аспект – развитие способностей к логическому изложению, к формулированию выводов;

3)  воспитательный аспект – формирование уважительного отношения к мнению собеседника, способностей анализировать и давать оценку поступкам и событиям, высказать свою точку зрения, личное отношение к проблеме;

4)  учебный аспект – совершенствование речевых навыков.

Речевой материал: лексика и грамматика предыдущих уроков.

Оборудование: тематические слайды, аудиозапись, раздаточный материал “Useful Language”, набор картинок, (текст песни “We Shall Overcome” )

Этапы урока.

I. Орг. момент: беседа с дежурным;

T: Good-morning, children. I’m glad to see you.

Ch: Good-morning, we are glad to see you too.

T: Take your seats. Is everybody present today?

P1: Yes, everybody is present today. And it is pleasant, because we are missing those who are missing.

(P2: No, not everybody is present today. And it’s not pleasant. We are missing those who are missing.)

T: Who is away?

P2: ….

T: How are you today?

P1,2,3,: I’m fine, thank you. And you? (I’m OK; I’m all right;…)

T: It is pleasant that everybody is fine. Let’s start our lesson.

I know that children like to make up stories. I’ll give you some pictures they will help you to do it. Use your fantasy, your imagination. Let’s work in groups of 4 pupils.

T: You are very kind and careful children.

It’s a pity that we can often see homeless animals, but more over we face

homeless people, homeless children. We often come across with those who need

our help.

Look at the screen very attentively and say what we are going to speak about.

T: You are quite right. We will speak about different charities, their work, about

contributions of different people to charity. We’ll try to answer the following

questions: “ What makes people help other people? What makes you help other people?”

Who can explain the word “charity”? What does it mean?

P1: …. kindness in giving help.

T: What does the word “a charity” mean?

P2: …. without any money.

T: I know that there are many charities in Britain. Am I right?

P3: Yes, you are right. There are more than 157 000 charities in Britain.

T: What are they?

P4: They are OXFAM, UNICEF, the Samaritans, the RCPCA, Help the Aged and others.

T: I think that OXFAM helps animals.

P5: You are wrong. As far as I know OXFAM helps poor people in other countries.

T: According to the RSPCA I can say that it is a charity that protects animals.

P6: I can quite agree with you. Its members (volunteers) provide shelters to the animals and

take care about them.

T: The charity Help the Aged collects money and helps old people.

P7: I agree. Its members collect money and help old people.

T: As far as I remember The Samaritans look after the unhappy people.

P8: I’m sorry but I can’t agree with you. In my opinion the Samaritans don’t look after

the unhappy people. They give advice to unhappy people over the phone.

T: And I wonder what does UNICEF do?

P9: UNICEF helps children in the world suffering from diseases and hunger.

3. Контроль домашнего задания: фронтальная работа – сообщения о благотворит-х

организациях в России.

T: There are many organisations which are involved in voluntary work in our

country. There are many charities in our country. Many children in Russia do

something for charity. Have you managed to find and to interpret any

information about charities in Russia?

Who can (wants to) tell us about it?

P1: I’ve read an article about K. Bolokhova. She is a volunteer of the Youth Voluntary

Centre. She works for Help the Homeless Children.

She looks after the children. They play, reads book, or just chat. Sometimes the members of

the centre raise money and clothes for charity. She says she likes to be involved, because

it’s a good life experiences.

P2: I’d like to tell you about the International Charity Fund of Vladimir Spivakov. Its aim is

to support children who are talented musicians. The Fund also helps children who suffer

from disease. Its members raise money and provide the needy children everything they

need.

P3: I want to tell you about a charity in our region. It is called “Pokoleniye”.

Andrei Skotch organized it. It helps all needy people in our region.

T: Thank you. It was very interesting to listen to your reports. Let’s have a short

rest and do morning exercises.

T: Well, why do people do voluntary work? What makes them do something

without any money?

Open your books at p. 60, ex. 1. Listen to the opinions of some British children,

their names are Hilary Ready, Stephen White, and Allison Fung. And answer the

following questions.

T: Let’s make a kind of conclusion. What makes people help other people?

T: Yes, you are absolutely right. (СМЕНИТЬ СЛАЙД)

T: Do you want to be involved in life around? Do you want to get life

experience?

Ask these questions to each other. Work in pairs.

We have spoken a lot about other people’s attitude towards helping the needy.

And what is your opinion? Your attitude? What makes you help?

In ex. 2, p. 61 you see an outline which can help you to express your own attitude. Open your copy-books, and write down your thoughts about it.
