Тема урока: To read or not to read.

Задачи урока: Активизация лексики по теме «Чтение», совершенствование навыков говорения на заданную тему, повторение условных предложений 3 типа.

Воспитательные задачи: Формирование умения работать в группах, умения убеждать, прислушиваться к мнению друг друга.

Начало урока, оргмомент. Today we’re going to talk about books, memorise the most famous authors of different countries, read books, comment on them and even create a new one.

1. Речевая зарядка:

- Do you like reading? What’s your favourite types of books? What is your favourite book? …

2. Вопросно-ответные упражнения, разговор о жанрах книг и авторах наиболее известных книг.

- Let’s recollect the world famous writers of novels, their works and countries they are from…

- How do you call a novel or a story that deals with love, adventure and mystery?

- Can you name the writers of adventures stories in different countries?

-  What’s your favourite genre of reading?

-  What is a detective story?

-  What world famous detective writers can we recall?

-  What is a science fiction?

-  What genre is close to the science fiction, which deals with imaginary worlds?

-  When we talk of fantasy, what 2 famous names comes to our minds?

-  And what about fairy tales? Are they not very close to fantasy?

-  What fairy tales and may be their authors can we remember?

-  Do you like reading newspapers? How often do you read them? In a newspaper we read newspaper articles. What is a newspaper article?

Учащиеся дают определение различных жанров книг, определяют жанры отрывков из произведений, данных в учебнике, объясняя свой выбор.

-  What Zelenodolsk newspapers can we remember?

Учащиеся называют газеты, выпускаемые в Зеленодольске.

-  OK. We can read about Zelenodolsk in our local papers. It’s unfair. Now I suggest creating a story where the action can take place in any town in the world. Let it be Zelenodolsk.

3. Подготовка к ролевой игре, распределение ролей.

We are going to have a roleplay.

I need to divide you into 3 groups. For that you have to answer 8 moral questions. Please write shortly, yes or no. Don’t think long. Write the first thought that comes to your mind. You have 2 or 3 minutes for that.

1.  You find 200 roubles in the street near the police station. Do you take it?

2.  Your best friend’s ex-girlfriend (boyfriend) asks you on a date. Do you go?

3.  You break a small souvenir at a friend’s house but nobody sees. Do you say anything?

4.  You are looking after your neighbour’s fish while he is on holiday, and it dies. Do you tell him or replace it with one that looks similar and say nothing?

5.  Somebody you don’t like asks you to go for a walk. Do you lie and say you have plans?

6.  Your friend cooks you a disgusting meal. Do you pretend you like it?

7.  Somebody tells you a funny true story, but says it’s a secret. Do you tell anybody?

8.  Would you copy a test in English to get a better mark?

Here are the right moral answers.

Please count how many simultaneous answers you have and write the number on the other side of the sheet.

You see, every time we make a moral decision, 2 characters try to persuade to do what they want. They are an angel and a devil.

Now those with the least moral points will play the role of a devil. Those with the most points will play an angel. And the students in the middle are the decision makers.

Учащиеся пересаживаются, образуя 3 группы в соответствии с выбранной ролью.

4. Ролевая игра.

There are parts of your future story in front of you. The decision makers begin with the 1 part. Read the story and then you have to decide what next part to choose. Then take the corresponding numbered card. The angels have some time to convince you to do the “right’ thing, and the devil have time to argue otherwise. Use as more persuasive lexic as possible:

-  it’s important to remember…

-  how can you…

Учащиеся составляют свой собственный рассказ исходя из ответов, которые они выбрали. «Ангелы» пытаются убедить «рассказчиков» выбрать наиболее правильный, «моральный» ответ, взывая к их совести, «демоны», наоборот, заставляют «рассказчиков» думать только о себе, выбрать путь к славе и богатству, невзирая на средства, которыми они достигаются.

Рассказы составлены таким образом, что, хоть раз послушав демонов, ты уже не придёшь к счастливому финалу, поэтому, скорее всего, наших рассказчиков ожидает печальный конец.

Do you like the end? So, perhaps, somewhere you made a wrong decision. Try to predict what may have happened if you had made another choice, using Conditional 3. For example: If we had met uncle Rashid we wouldn’t have lost our house…

Учащиеся определяют в какой части рассказа они сделали неправильный выбор и пытаются предсказать возможные события, используя условные предложения 3 типа. Затем они меняют выбор и создают новый рассказ. Таким образом они будут возвращаться к рассказу до тех пор, пока не дойдут до счастливого конца (№17).

5. Обсуждение полученного рассказа, определение жанра.

- Now tell me please, what genre does your story belong to?

Учащиеся пытаются определить к какому жанру относится их рассказ, объясняя свой выбор. Но, поскольку чёткого жанра определить невозможно (в рассказе присутствуют злементы детектива, любовной истории, приключенческого рассказа, сказки), они приходят к выводу, что жанры в чистом виде не встречаются, что, как правило, они перемешаны.

6. Окончание урока, домашнее задание.

I like your story. But you see, it wasn’t a real “writing a story”, though your work was great. At home I want you to write a new, different ending of the story, beginning with any part you like.
