    whom your family consists of; speak on the relations in the family; how you spend weekends.

    if you like doing sport in your free time; if you prefer team or individual sport, why; what sport facilities you use in your area.

4.7. Give a 1,5 – 2 minute talk about the last film you saw in the cinema.

    what the film was about; whether you liked/disliked it and why; how much the ticket cost.

    why people read books and what sort of books; what your favourite book is; why you think people will never stop reading (or books will soon disappear).

9.1. Give a 1,5 – 2 minute talk about your plans for the future.

Remember to say:

    what you want to be and why; when you decided to choose this profession; where you are going to study after finishing school.

9.2. Give a 1,5 – 2 minute talk about your plans for the next school year.

Remember to say:

    if you are going to continue your education at school or anywhere else, why; what subject would you like to specialize in; if your friends support you in your choice, why/why not.

9.3. Give a 1,5 – 2 minute talk on your greatest wish you would like to come true in the future.

Remember to say:

    what kind of wish it is; what personal gualities you need to realize your wish; if you tell anyone about your wish, why or why not.

9.4. Give a 1,5 – 2 minute talk on the kind of career you are interested in.

Remember to say:

    what jobs are popular with teenagers nowadays and why; what you like about your future career; why you think you will be a good specialist.

9.5. Give a 1,5 – 2 minute talk on learning languages in the 21st century.

Remember to say:

    why more and more people learn foreign languages nowadays; how many languages a successful professional should know. Why?

9.6. Give a 1,5 – 2 minute talk on learning English.

Remember to say:

    whether it is easy or difficult to learn English, why;
    which activity at the lesson is the most important (listening, speaking, reading), why; how you can use English in everyday life.

10.1. Give a 1,5 – 2 minute talk about the place where you live.

Remember to say:

    what kind of place it is (a city/town/village) and what it looks like; what it's famous for; what you would show your guests in your city (town, village), and why.

Task 1

Let the student talk for 1,5 — 2 minutes.

Ask only those questions which the student has not covered while giving the talk.

— What kind of place is your city/town/village? What does it look like?

— What is it famous for?

— What would you show your guests in your city/town/village?
All these ideas must be covered.

Finally, you must ask each student the following question:

Would you prefer to live in the country or in a big city? Why/why not?

SKILLS TO BE TESTED

The student is expected to demonstrate her/his ability to:

speak at length elaborating on the topic

produce coherent utterances

give reasons

use accurate grammar structures and a good range of vocabulary approp­riate to the context and function

11.1. Give a 1,5 – 2 minute talk on holidays and festivals.

Remember to say:

    what the main holidays in Great Britain, the USA and Russia are; what your favourite holiday is; what presents you usually get.

    who is your favourite writer; why you like his/her books; what style they are written in.

    besides tourism, what other reasons there are to travel; how important it is to speak the language of a country you're visiting; where you will go if you have a lot of money and why.

    what tourists can see and do in your country; what souvenirs you can buy;
    what country you would like to visit as a tourist ans why.
