Ход урока

Teacher: «Мороз и солнце… День чудесный!» «Snow, frost and sunshine… Lovely morning!». Are you surprised? Good morning! My name is Maria Gennadjevna. I’m a teacher of school number 19. I’m glad to see you! How are you?

T.: Do you like English?

P.: Yes, I like!

T.: Why do you study English? Is this language beautiful? Is it useful?

P.: Yes, it is beautiful and useful.

T.: I agree with you and hope that our today lesson will be useful too. The theme of our lesson is «Russian is the language of communication». Let’s translate the theme. How can we translate it?

P.: Русский язык – это язык общения.

T.: Good for you! On this English lesson we will talk about Russian language and the communication. So, we speak Russian. We use it during everyday communication. We study Russian at school. But – attention – foreign people study Russian too. Why do they study Russian? How do you think?

P.: They want to speak Russian.

T.: Yes, of course. Take the list number 1. You see 3 opinions of foreigners about studying Russian. Let’s listen to the audio recorder. And ask the question: «Why do foreign people study Russian?». Underline the main reasons for studying Russian on your list (Дети слушают и подчеркивают).

P.: Foreign people study Russian to visit Russia, to read Russian literature in Russian, because Russian is beautiful and interesting.

T.: Good! The theme of our lesson is «Russian is language of communication». Let’s remember the words which can describe our theme. Take your list number 2. These are the words we need. The task is to read them and find their translation in the second *****ssian words are mixed. Take your pens and mach English word and its translation. For example, communication and “общение”. I give you a few minutes.

T.: Well, the theme of the lesson is «Russian is the language of communication». But what is communication?

P.: Communication is talking between persons.

T.: Good! Take the list number 4. Look at the pictures. The task is to write down the different ways of communication, besides talking. What ways of communication do you know? Take your pens and underwrite the pictures, use our words. What ways of communication do you know?

P.: There are different ways of communication: with animals, with children, writing, reading books, watching TV, by the Internet.

T.: You are absolutely right. Books and literature are the ways of communication too. The theme of our lesson is «Russian is the language of communication». So, Russian literature is the way to learn about Russian people, life, culture and the Russian soul. It is the way of communication between cultures: Russian and foreign. Now, please, answer the question: «What Russian writers and poets would you recommend for foreign people to read?».

P.: Pushkin, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Chekhov.

T.: Well, let’s make the recommendations for foreign people. Take your list number 5. Read the texts about famous Russian authors. You have the pictures of them. The task is to match the picture and the text about the character of author’s creation. Then you should choose the one of them and write some words why it is necessary to read his book by foreign people. You should make the recommendation for foreign people. Take your lists number 6. Use the phrases:

«We recommend reading this author’s books, because …».

«We think that this writer’s books shows …».

«We are sure that everyone foreigner should read the works of … , because …”.

I’d like to check your work. Read your recommendations (Дети озвучивают рекомендации). Good for you. Wonderful recommendations you made! And you are absolutely right. These writers and poet are the most read and famous authors abroad. Foreign people like Russian literature. Look at this map. Pushkin’s monuments are situated in these towns all over the world.

And now let’s play. Imagine that you are the reporters of any newspapers. First newspaper is The Times; the second is The Guardian and The Sunday Time. Make some questions for foreign famous person who studies Russian language. Each group should make one question due to the lesson’s theme. Are you ready? (Посмотреть, какие вопросы составили).
