l  раздаточный материал (4 задания для каждой команды)

l  карточки с описаниями достопримечательностей для учителя

l  карточка учета правильных ответов для членов жюри

Ход викторины

Учитель называет тему викторины и объясняет правила игры. Учащиеся делятся на команды по 3-4 человека, выбирают капитана и название для своей команды. Названия команд записываются на доске и в карточках жюри. Баллы подсчитываются после каждого задания. Побеждает команда, набравшая наибольшее количество баллов.

Teacher: Good morning, pupils! Welcome to our game “The Wonders of Great Britain”. As you know, Great Britain is a unique country, so there are a lot of wonderful places in it. Today we are going to speak about the deepest lakes and the highest mountains, the most famous museums, galleries and theatres, the most beautiful squares and cathedrals. You are going to work in teams. Please choose the captain and the name of your team… I see that you are ready. Let’s begin. We’ve got 5 tasks.

Учитель дает краткое описание достопримечательностей в Британии. Если ученик знает название, он поднимает руку и даёт ответ. Каждый правильный ответ приносит 1 балл команде.

Teacher: Task 1. Listen to me and say what wonderful place I am speaking about. Raise your hand if you know the answer. If your answer is correct, your team gets 1 point.

1.One of the few royal palaces remaining in the world. It is one of the few working royal palaces remaining in the world today. It serves as both the office and London residence of the Queen and also as the busy administrative headquarters of the monarchy. Probably it has the most famous and recognizable facade of any building in the world. (Buckingham Palace).

2. It is a Neolithic and Bronze Age megalithic monument in Wiltshire consider five theories: a place for the dead, a place of healing, an ancient observatory, a place of Moon worship and UFO landing site.(Stonehenge).

3. The giant observation wheel has become a London icon since it was opened on the South Bank in 2000. It is located next to Jubilee Gardens and County Hall. It offers stunning views across the capital. (London Eye).

4. It is the world's largest museum of human history, culture and art. Its treasures include Egyptian mummies, objects from the Mesopotamian Kingdom of Ur, an Easter Island statue given to the museum by Queen Victoria, objects from the Sutton Hoo burial and (at least for now) the Elgin Marbles that once graced the Parthenon in Greece. 5. It is located above the River Thames, London. It contains two massive towers which are linked together. It stands at a height of 60 meters and the height of each tower is about 43 meters. The middle part of the it can be lifted up when huge ships pass through that way. In the past, the bridge was lifted nearly 50 times per day. (The Tower Bridge).

6. This four-faced freestanding clock is the third largest clock tower in the world. It recently celebrated its 150th anniversary .(Big Ben)

7. It was built by William the conqueror (Emperor of England) in the year 1078. The complex contains some buildings with two circles of walls and a large water body. The tower was built as a palace, castle and prison (for high level people). In the gardens around the castle you can see ravens.(The Tower of London).

8. It is a street in London. It is named after builder William Baker, who laid the street out in the 18th century. The street is most famous for its connection to the fictional detective Sherlock Holmes, who lives at a fictional 221B Baker Street address. The area was originally high class residential, but now is mainly occupied by commercial premises. (Baker Street).

Учитель раздаёт задание каждой команде. Учащиеся соединяют слова в колонках, вписывают букву, соответствующую правильному ответу.... За каждый правильный ответ команды получает 1 балл.

Учитель раздает задания каждой команде. В каждом предложении пропущено слово. Ученики должны отгадать слово и написать его, поставив буквы в правильном порядке. За каждое правильно написанное слово команда получает 1 балл.

Задание 4

Учитель раздает каждой команде карточки со словами (или фразами). Учащиеся должны расставить эти слова в правильном порядке, чтобы прочитать пословицы и поговорки о любви к своей стране. Учащиеся работают сначала индивидуально, а потом в команде. Каждое правильное предложение приносит 1 балл команде.

Teacher: Put the words into the correct order and read the proverbs. The team gets 1 point for each correct proverb.

Задание 5

Учитель раздает командам карточки и объясняет задание – составить слова из букв, входящих в название нашей страны – The United Kingdom of Great Britain. В словах должно быть не менее 3 букв, это могут быть существительные (кроме имен собственных), прилагательные, числительные и глаголы (в начальной форме). Время выполнения задания ограничено до 3–5 минут. Команда получает 1 балл за каждое правильное слово.

Teacher: Pupils, do you know the official name of The UK ? Right, the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Your next task is to make up the words from these letters. You have only 5 minutes to do this task.

Подведение итогов

Жюри подсчитывает общее количество баллов, и учитель объявляет команду, победившую в викторине.
