Цели урока:
Познавательный аспект – знакомство с выдающимися людьми в области науки и культуры.
Воспитательный аспект – воспитание чувства сопричастности к мировой истории, уважение к чужому труду и творчеству, чувству гордости за достижение своих великих соотечественников.
Развивающий аспект – развитие коммуникативности, способности к целеустремлённой работе, к самостоятельному труду.
Учебный аспект – развитие речевых умений, умения читать с целью извлечения конкретной информации.
Тип урока: урок комплексного применения знаний.
Ход урока:
1. Организационный момент.
Т: Today we are going to speak about famous people of Great Britain, of Russia and of our native land-Belgorod region.
2. Проверка домашнего задания:
1) Письменное задание.
T: Write down as many adjectives to describe famous people as possible. Write down verbs to describe their activities.
Напишите на доске слова (прилагательные и глаголы) по теме
«Famous People».
2) Беседа T-Cl по теме «Famous People of Great Britain and Russia».
T: There are people who are all time great. Why are they remembered and respected? Name the people whom you consider great:
· Writers
· Painters
· Musicians
· Actors
· Sportsmen
· Military leaders
· Statesmen, Politicians
· Scientists, Investigators
· T: We have spoken a lot about British literature/ I’m sure you know and enjoy many British authors. Would you name your favorites?
· Great Britain also produced painters who are recognized around the world. Could your name them?
· Who can be included in the list of famous musicians?
· Do you like cinema? If so no doubt you know names of popular British actors.
· There are sportsmen among you. Who are popular sportsmen in Great Britain?
· As for me British is a thrilling thing. Studying history you have probably leant names of outstanding people who saved their country best? What are they?
· Great Britain has given the world a number of scientists and investigators. What are they known for?

T: It isn’t an easy thing to speak about Russia and about outstanding people of our country for such a short period of time. Never the less would you name the Russian people you are proud of?

T: As for Great Britain and Russia you know many people who are famous. But the Belgorod region has given Russia a number of great people in various fields of life – public men, military leaders and so on. Some of our pupils created projects about our countrymen.

T: It wasn’t difficult for you to solve the test.
You have recognized the honoured people of the Belgorod region. And among them is a name which we can’t but mention today. It’s the name of our prominent countrymen – N. F. Vatutin. We are proud of him because he was born here and took part in the liberation of Belgorod during the Second World War. This year we celebrated the 100-th anniversary of his birth. A medal of Vatutin was established to the memorable date. And we are lucky to have it at our school museum.

Дополните таблицу «Famous People» сведениями о знаменитых людях Белгородчины.
T: Today we have started speaking about famous people of our region, but we haven’t mentioned many of them. I ask you to complete the list with the names of famous people of our region.
I advise you to read the book «Belgorod Alphabet».There are interesting facts – the places and dates of birth, dates of major achievements – which will give readers short life-story of the famous people. The biographies in the book are alphabetically arranged for easy reference.
For those pupils who haven’t chosen the subject of the project yet – you may
write about a person or event you are proud of. It would be great if tell us about members of your family.
