Salans advises MAKIZ PHARMA on American launch of Russian original pharmaceutical

June 2007: Salans has advised Russian pharmaceuticals holding MAKIZ PHARMA on a license agreement for registering and producing the medicinal form of its Acizol ® product in the United States and a number of other countries¹. The agreement was signed by American pharmaceuticals company MPP Group LLC and ZAO Acizol-Pharma, which owns the rights to the preparation, with the participation of MAKIZ PHARMA, which has been granted exclusive rights to produce and market Acizol ® in the Russian Federation, the CIS and certain other countries. The signing ceremony took place in Milwaukee (Wisconsin). Moscow partner Alexander Skoblo led the deal assisted by Olga Rogozhina, Moscow associate.

¹ Acizol ® is used to prevent and treat carbon monoxide and other smoke-related poisoning. It was first synthesized by the Irkutsk Chemical Institute of the Siberian section of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The medicinal form was developed by ZAO Acizol-Pharma, led by Kh. Kh. Babaniyazov, Honored Doctor RF, candidate of medical sciences. All pre-clinical and clinical trials, and the development of the technology for producing the medicinal form, were performed with the direct involvement and financing of ZAO MAKIZ PHARMA. The first industrial series of Acizol ® reached the Russian pharmaceuticals market in 2006 and quickly became one of the best selling products in MAKIZ PHARMA’s portfolio.
