Press conference of Ruslana and science fiction writers Sergiy and Maryna Diachenko.

April, 14th in Kyiv within the frames of the European science fiction convention Eurocon 2006 a presentation of a new science fiction novel by Sergiy and Maryna Diachenko Wild Energy. Lana took place. On the base of this book Ruslana creates her new style-project.

Read Ukrainian

The press release that journalists received before the press conference contained two words only: “Read Ukrainian”. When addressing the public and answering questions of the press Diachenko and Ruslana dwelled on this issue:

Ruslana: "It’s a crying shame that we have to talk about saving the Ukrainian book today. But we have to do it and I want to do my best to provide a free existence of our literature. I appeal to everyone: read! Read the contemporary Ukrainian writers of science fiction and other genres as well as classical literature. Sergiy Diachenko: “I’d like to underline that it is a very Ukrainian project. The novel "Wild Energy. Lana" is published in both Russian and Ukrainian – as you see there are no conflicts in the language issue. I hope this book will be translated in other languages soon”.

The first Ukrainian issues are already available in the book shops of the country. The authors of the project strongly intend to break stereotypes concerning low popularity of Ukrainian books.

Energy Crisis

The plot of the novel "Wild Energy. Lana" is set in a future city which experiences a global energy crisis, far more threatening than lack of oil and gas. The inhabitants of the synthetic city are lacking their will for life, their energy of heart – the “fuel for people”. The authors, as well as the first readers, remark that, notwithstanding the fiction character of the story, it contains allegories, relevant for our time. According to Ruslana, heart energy crisis is very likely to overtake the society without development and support of creative initiatives.

The "Energy Ice Age" of the present, the cultural degration and other disgraceful social phenomenas, will be challenged by Ruslana by launching a campaign to search and support new creative potential of Ukraine.

The singer and producer appealed to the young talents from all over the country not to be lazy in imagination and finding the “wild energy of creation” inside themselves. In the nearest future new creative joint programs together with education establishments of Charkiv, Ivano Frankivs’k, Odessa will be launched.

In spring 2006 Ruslana’s global social anti-trafficking campaign in co-operation with the OSCE will start.

Style-Project

Ruslana: “First of all it is a huge experiment in the field of book publishing in Ukraine. I met Sergiy and Maryna last year and I was very much impressed by the idea of their book. It inspired me on the creation of a scaled project, new style and even new image. This project and this book will be promoted according to brand new schemes and I hope we will be able to talk about several first works in a number of fields”.

Ruslana’s style-project based on the science fiction novel by Sergiy and Maryna Diachenko will cover the whole creative year of the singer and gradually will present singles, videos, parts of the future fantasy-show, series of comics and other elements. _____________________________________________________________________________
