Dreaming of … or Why I want to learn English on Malta
I think that every single person in the world has a dream. And our dreams are different. One may want to have a fabulous career, another – a nice work. One may want to have an expensive shiny car, another – a big family full of kids. Those dreams make us, they become part of us, they make us different. They make us ourselves. I’m not an exclusion. I also have a dream. I want to be a teacher. An English teacher, to tell the truth. And I even can tell you why. The answer is very simple – I want to be like my mom. She’s been being an English teacher for all her life. She’d finished her University in 1971 when the USSR was still a big powerful country. But because of that she never had a chance to visit any of English-speaking countries. But she always wanted to… And for all her life she’d been working with kids, learning them, telling them about wonderful world what is around us. And that’s what I’m going to do in my life also. I want to work with kids, learn them how to live and tell them that life is a very beautiful gift. And that’s what I do in my life. I’m studding at the Pedagogical University, I work with kids trying to make everything right…
And this year I had a chance to go to the United States. And I went. You can’t even image how much experience I’ve got there! It really was a present from my life! I saw so many things, I’ve learn so much I can’t even express with words. And all that was thanks to my mom. She gave me that as a present for my 21st birthday. That was the best present I’ve ever got! I will never forget this. And after I came back, I’ve realized that I’ve changed. But I was still doing what I was doing before leaving. And one day I had a kid coming to my place to have an English lesson. It was a new 11 years old boy. His mom brought him for his first English lesson and before she left she told me that he doesn’t really want to study. I was confused. I didn’t really know what to do with him, so I just started to tell him where I was and what I saw during my summer. In Russian, of course. I got so excited that I didn’t even realized that the lesson supposed to be over already. I just loved what I was doing because I saw the fire in the boy’s eyes. I saw that he liked what I was telling him. I saw that he believed me. In return, he told me that he was interested in archeology and he’s dreaming to go to Egypt. He told me so much about that country and it’s history! I believed him. That was the best lesson I’ve ever had! That passion that I saw in the boy’s eyes was really worth that because I knew that he saw exactly the same passion in my eyes…
And now my life has changed. Now I’m so 100 per cent sure what I want to do in my life. I want to see more to have more to tell. Because when the small human being looks into your eyes and believes you, admires you and wants to be like you, it means something. I think that it means that you’ve chosen the Right Way in your life…
