I. Приветствие и сообщение цели урока.

T: Good morning, students. Take your seats, please. How are you today?

Ps: We are OK. What about you?

T: Not bad, thank you. Today we are going on to talk about our life at school. You’ll present us the story about your life at school, read the letter of an English girl, do some grammatical exercises and listen to the interview at Cleveland Summer School.

Let’s continue. You have done great research on our topic “School Life”: you’ve found some information about the history of your gymnasia, you made your timetable, prepared a photo report of your extra activities. Now let’s try to make a full story about our school. Please, guys, present your school and talk about your life in it.

(Учащиеся комментируют презентацию фотографий. Приложение 1).

P1: Our school was founded in 1974 and its first headmaster was Borisov V. I., an honored teacher of the Russia. Then it was Ratnikov N. A. who headed the school. Matveeva V. M. became the next leader of our gymnasia. Today the school is ruled by Slaykovskaya N. I., a very competent and talented person.

T: Thank you very much, Nikita. Who will continue our story?

P2: The gymnasia where we study is quite big. It is a 3-storey building of a typical design. When you enter the school you see a lobby. To the left of the entrance there is a cloak-room. On the ground floor there is a large gymnasium, a canteen, where you can have lunch, a headmaster’s office, a library and some classes for the primary education.

T: Good of you, Margarita.

P3: The assembly hall is on the first floor. The computer class, the Teacher’s room and other classes are on the second floor. On the walls of the corridors you can see posters of famous writers and scientists of our country. When you come into a classroom you can find desks, a teacher’s table, a blackboard, cupboards and shelves where we keep our books.

P4: We study 6 days a week from Monday until Saturday. We usually have 5 or 6 lessons a day. So, our school day starts at 8 o’clock and our finishes at 2 p. m. If you look at our timetable you will see that our school day is very intensive and we have different subjects every day. For example on Monday On Saturday the school day is short we have only 3 lessons in our timetable.

T: What are your favourite subjects?

P5: We like different subjects: Maths, English, Literature, Art, Physical Training. We think Maths is very important in our life. We use it when we go shopping, tell time, go traveling. Art makes our life more interesting and beautiful.

P6: When we draw we get to know more about the world. English is our favourite lesson. At these lessons we read different texts, do grammatical exercises, create projects ad learn to speak English. English is very important today. Most people in the world learn it.

T: Indeed, the knowledge of English is very important today. Every person should learn it. It will greatly help you in future.

What about your free time? Do you often spend time together after classes?

P7: Yes, after classes we can do sports such as football, athletics, table tennis or do artistic activities like music or drama. At weekends we sometimes go on excursions with our teachers and parents.

T: Good of you. You have created a wonderful story about your school.

IV. Развитие навыков письменной речи.

T: Oh, I have forgotten …Yesterday I got a letter, addressed to you. It is from Betty, an English girl. But you see, I cannot read it. Something has happened to my e-mail. I have got five parts of the letter and I cannot combine them. Will you help me?

Ps: O course, we will.

T: Do you remember the structure of an informal letter? (На проекторную доску выводится 5 частей письма и учащимся предлагается расставить их в правильном порядке. Приложение 2)

P: If I’m not mistaken an informal letter starts with an address.

T: Exactly, Alyona. We should always remember about our address. What’s its position?

P: At the top of the letter.

T: Thank you, Kolya. You’re absolutely right. What will be the next part of the letter?

T: Good of you, Vanya. We shouldn’t forget about greeting a person we write to.

The third part of the letter is….

P: That in which Betty describes her classroom.

T: Excellent, Arina.

P: In the fourth part Betty asks us to write her about our school.

T: The last part of the letter is of course signing off. Good job, students. Now you know perfectly well how to write letters to your penfriends. I hope Betty won’t wait long for your reply.

V. Повторение грамматического материала.

T: To avoid some grammatical mistakes in your letter, let’s remember how to use prepositions. (Учащиеся выполняют упражнение на множественный выбор. Приложение 3)

VI. Развитие навыков аудирования.

T: Now let’s listen to the interview at Cleveland summer school and fill in the forms you have got on your tables. (Приложение 4)

Учащиеся слушают интервью, учитель контролирует правильность понимания услышанного.

VII. Развитие диалогической речи.

T: Fantastic! Let’s work in pairs. Take turns to be the teacher and interview your partner. (Учащиеся работают 3 минуты в парах, затем учитель спрашивает диалоги – 2 пары учащихся).

VIII. Подведение итогов урока, домашнее задание.

T: My dear friends, our lesson comes to the end. You have worked hard today. It’s time to write down your home task for the next lesson – write your reply to Betty, remember the structure of the letter. Thank you very much for the lesson. You may be free. Good bye. Good luck.
