Тема урока: “ Reading…? Why not?

Цель урока: активизация тематической лексики в устной речи учащихся диалогической и монологической форме в процессе развития иноязычной коммуникативной компетенции учащихся.

Задачи:

Образовательные −формировать навыки самостоятельной работы с учебным материалом с использованием новых информационных технологий

−формировать навыки самообразования.

−формировать умения и навыки критического мышления в условиях с большим объемом информации

Воспитательные −формировать навыки работать в команде, так как идея деятельностного подхода заложена в парной и групповой формах работы.

Развивающие − развивать умение формулировать задачу и кооперативно ее решать

−формировать навыки самоконтроля

Ведущий 2 The rise of television has been coupled with the death of books. What can be done to rescue them?

Pupil 1 I don’t think books need to be rescued. A book is one of the greatest wonders of the world. It gives us a unique chance to link up with authors who lived hundreds and thousands years ago. Thanks to books we can talk to people who lived in different ages and countries. Through reading books we hear their voices, thoughts and feelings.

I would like to continue this idea. The book is the surest way to bring nations together. It gives us an insight not only into the past, but also into the future. The book is a faithful and undemanding friend.

Pupil 2 I became very keen on literature early in life. This probably happened because we had a very good library at home. Books expanded outlook, filled my life with great expectations and happiness. Since childhood, I have been enchanted by Pushkin and Gogol. I read a lot of books by Chekhov. I also was delighted by Blok.

Pupil 3 Books play an important role in our life because they are our teachers and advisers. They teach us how to take the next step when we are in a difficult situation. They help to shape our life. Take a look at what famous people said about books and reading, try to use them in your speech.

Pupil 5 Journalist. Reading is not very popular nowadays, I should say. And I am sorry about it. Now I’d like to show you the materials of one foreign source. 100 Russian people were asked about their attitude to reading. The results you can see on your screens. Examine it. And let’s discuss the problem.

What are the pros and cons of reading?

Answer:

Pros

Wisdom. Reading lets you open your mind and learn about what is really important.
Improve Concentration. Reading helps you to concentrate on one thing for longer than a 'sound bite'.
Reading stimulates production of endorphins.
Learning. Reading is an excellent source of information of all types.
Critical Thinking. Careful reading helps to develop skills in critical thinking.
Creativity. Reading can stimulate insight and creativity.
Pleasure & Relaxation. Reading is a wonderful source of pleasure for many people, and can provide a healthy escape from routine.

Cons - There is a danger that one who reads much can avoid or ignore healthy things such as sunlight, physical activity, the developing of relationships, skills caring for others, including pets, and not least important, earning a living.

Why don’t people read? As a result of this survey I can say that people don’t read because

Lack of time; health problems ( poor eyesight, headache); don’t like reading; it is not interesting; no mood for reading; get necessary information from mass media; no good books; no money to buy books.

Student 5 You see, modern life is so fast and full of action that teens don’t have time and desire to read books; they consider reading to be nothing more than waste of time. Furthermore there are a lot of people who are sure that products of modern technologies like computers can replace traditional books.

Ведущий OK. You reminded us an urgent problem of contemporary life. I know that our voluntaries made a survey at school. A group of the pupils from our class has made some research work. They want to answer the question “Is there a place for a book in our life?”

Julia Volunteers We made a survey last week. We asked many pupils of our school. We were interested to know “IS there a place for books in our life?” I want you to see what we did. ( презентация)

About 70% of respondents said that they like reading

90% of respondents from junior school like to read books

80% of respondents from high school agree that reading is an important thing.

Almost every one has his own home library. More than half respondents like to read ( traditional) printed books. And almost everybody thinks that reading is an integral part of our life.

Pupil The world of books is full of wonders. Reading books you can find yourself in different lands, countries, seas, oceans. Together with the characters of the book you go by ship in the stormy sea, you climb high mountains, you fly into space, you have a lot reading we develop our imagination, logical thinking and broaden the outlook, the value of books is undeniable.

Pupil Books give us necessary information and a clever book is a good friend with whom you can discuss a lot. Pupil A book is one of the greatest wonders of the world. Why are so many people fond of reading? The world of books is full of wonders. The book is a true friend. They form our values and characters. We try to look like the characters of our favorite books: to be brave, honest, not to be silly and greedy, to be real friends. We enjoyed the beauty and wisdom of fairy-tales and fables when we were babies and Granny read them. They taught us to be kind, clever, hard working, to understand other people and help them. They teach us to understand the beauty of nature, take care of it, to love our homeland. There you can see some thoughts about books and reading.

· Pupil For me this question is quite clear – definitely to read. Reading broadens your horizons, so the more your read, the more doors you can open. cинквейн – прием, позволяющий в нескольких словах изложить учебный материал на определенную тему. («Синквейн» от фран. «пять». Это специфическое стихотворение (без рифмы), состоящее из пяти строк, в которых обобщена информация по изученной теме).

Правила составления синквейна: I’d like to remind you the rule of writing

В первой строке одним словом обозначается тема (именем существительным).The first line is the name of the today’s talk Вторая строка – описание темы двумя словами (прилагательные)The second line we write adjectives Третья строка – описание действия в рамках этой темы тремя словами (глаголы, причастия) The third line is for verbs Четвертая строка – фраза из четырех слов, выражающая отношение к теме (разные части речи) Line number 4 you should write 4-5 words expressing your attitude towards the theme using different parts of speech

5. Пятая строка – одно слово, синоним темы And the last line – one word synonym to the theme
