Тип урока: обобщение изученного материала.

Задачи:

1.  Образовательные:

- развивать умения устной речи: формулировать аргументы; убеждать собеседников в ходе беседы;

- развивать умения чтения с полным пониманием содержания и выражением своего отношения к прочитанному; формирование критического мышления;

- развивать умения аудирования с пониманием общего содержания;

- развивать умения письменной речи.

2.  Развивающие:

- развивать презентационные умения и навыки;

- формировать интеллектуальные способности обучающихся;

- формировать умение выделять главное, сравнивать и анализировать.

3.  Воспитывающие:

- содействовать профориентации обучающихся;

- формировать у обучающихся позитивное (уважительное) отношение к любой профессии.

Дополнительные материалы: карточки с кроссвордом, тексты.

Оборудование: экран, мультимедийное устройство, магнитофон.

I.  Приветствие.

T.: - Hello, I am glad to see you.

St.: - We are glad to see you.

T.: - How are you?

St.: - We are fine, thank you and how are you?

T.: - I am fine thanks.

T.: Nastya, Zhenya and Carina are on duty e to the blackboard. Are you ready to begin our lesson?

St.: Yes, we are.

T.: One of the most difficult problems a young person faces is deciding what to do about a career. There are individuals, of course, who from the time they are six years old “know” that they want to be doctors or pilots, but the majority of young people can’t make a decision about their future occupation or career.

In two months you will have to decide what to do after the ninth form. I’m sure you have already discussed your future career with your parents.

-  Have you made up your mind about your future profession?

-  What would you like to be?

-  Have you chosen your future profession,…?

-  What would you like to be?

-  What about you, …….? What would you like to be?

-  Do your parents approve your choice?

-  Will you choose a profession which is boring but well paid or which is interesting but low paid?

-  What characteristic and qualities are necessary for a doctor?

IV.  Аудирование текста.

T.: Now let’s listen to three young people speaking about their future careers. Match the number of each speaker (number1, 2, 3) with the sentence a, b, c that reflects his or her idea and fill in the table.

1.  My parents are doctors, my granddad was a famous surgeon, and my granny worked in hospitals for forty years before she retired. Since I was born, everyone has always thought that I would be in medicine too, but I don’t think it’s job for me. What I want is a career as an IT specialist. I’m going to do some special computer courses this summer. I want to learn more about different graphic design programs and perhaps make more programs myself.

2.  My future job? This question has never been seriously discussed in my family. Since I was born, everyone has been convinced that I would continue our family business. My parents would never accept any alternative to it, and I don’t really mind. Our family runs a bakery and I often help them as a baker. I love this job and the smell of fresh bread. I feel useful and rewarded when I see that people enjoy my work. After leaving school, I want to take some training courses to learn more about new technologies in baking. Then I would like to study business management as this knowledge is very important when you want to run a family business.

3.  I have never really thought about my future career. I plan to put it off a while and just take advantage of my time at school. It’s a wonderful time because I don’t have to think about everyday problems – my parents and teachers do that for me. I can focus on studying to get good results which will matter in whatever career I choose. Yes, I want to stay at school and will get back to the problem of my future career in two year’s time.

a)  I haven’t decided what to do after leaving school yet; I’ll concentrate on my studies and choose my career later.

b)  I’ll take up my father’s job and will try to develop my family business.

c)  I don’t think that I’m suitable for the profession that my family has chosen for me, but I know what career to choose.

T.: I agree with you, but there is one more very important reason that influences our choice: there is a prejudice that some professions are for men and the others are for women.

Let’s read the text on this problem. But there are some words missing in the text, so your task is to fill in the gaps using the words at the end of the line in the appropriate form.

VIII.  Домашнее задание: – написать письмо личного характера.

T.: Now let’s speak about your home task. Each of you has a copy of a letter from your English pen-friend who writes: Helen, read the text of the letter, please.

… Have you ever thought what you are going to do in the future? As for me, I really don’t know what career to choose although my parents say it’s time I made a choice. What kind of job would you prefer to do? Have you asked your parents for advice? Would you like to follow in their footsteps? Anyway, we’ve got some time to think. T.: Your task is to write back to Jack. In your letter answer his questions and ask 3 questions about his hobbies and his plans for the future.
