Тема. Спорт і ігри
Підтема. Спортивні гуртки
Цілі:
- збагатити лексичний запас учнів; навчити учнів робити коротке повідомлення про участь у роботі спортивних гуртків; вчити учнів аргументувати власну думку; розвивати комунікативні навички учнів; розвивати пам ̕ ять, увагу, здогадку; виховувати в учнів потребу в активних заняттях спортом.
Обладнання: підручник, таблиці за темою „Спорт”, звукозапис.
PROCEDURE
I. Warming up
1. Greeting
T. Good morning, children! I hope you feel good, and we can start our lesson. At the previous lesson we spoke much about your favourite kinds of sport. Today we shall speak about sport clubs and why pupils attend the end of the lesson you will be able:
a) to speak about the sports clubs you attend;
b) to talk about your attitude to going in for sports;
c) to use the new words and expressions speaking on the topic.
2. Phonetic drill
T. Listen to the poem and repeat. … What is it about?
I like riding my bicycle,
I ̓m fond of playing chess.
My friend is good at judo-
We are keen on sport as you can guess.
And every kind of sport for sure
As it can even illness cure
And can for every girl and boy
Bring many moments of joy.
The proverb reads for everybody:
“A sound mind in a sound body”.
3. Brain-storming
а) T. As you have already learnt, the old Latin proverb says, “A sound mind in a sound body.” How do you understand these words?
P1. Sport helps a person to be strong.
P2. When a person goes in for sports he or she is healthy.
P3. We are not ill when we go in for sports. Etc.
b) T. Right you are. I am sure, it is really so. At the previous lesson you learnt the names of the kinds of sports that you hadn’t known before. Let ̕̕s review them. II. Main part of the lesson
1. Speaking
a) T. Well done! I see that all of you have prepared for the lesson. And now, will you work in groups? Discuss the following statements. Read the opinions, respond and add some more information.
1. Sports are important for teenagers.
2. Every person can become a famous sportsman.
Example:
A: Sports are important for teenagers.
B: Tastes differ. Some teenagers like going in for sports, the others prefer playing the musical instruments.
C: Sport is good for everybody as it makes us strong and healthy. (Учні висловлюють власні судження, аргументуючи їх та допомагаючи один одному. Учитель заохочує учнів до висловлювання своїх думок.)
T. OK, it̕ s an interesting idea. Go ahead, don’t be shy. Go on, express your opinion.
a) T. So, certainly, it is very important for everyone to go in for sport. Where can you go in for sport?
P1. We can attend sports clubs at school.
T. Do we have any sports clubs in our school?
P2. Of course, we do. There are some sports clubs there.
T. Do you attend any of them?
P3. As for me, I attend a wrestling club.
P4. And I attend our school table tennis club.
P5. As far as I know, many of my classmates attend volleyball club.
T. I see you go in for sports. Will you look at the pictures of exercise 4 on page 97 and say what sports clubs the children can attend in their school.
P1. The boy in picture 1 is playing basketball. So I think, he attends a basketball club in his school.
P2. The second boy is playing football. So, he attends a foot ball club. Etc.

3. Reading
a) pre-reading activity
T. You are going to read a text. Its title is ”Practice Makes Perfect”. How do you understand these words?
P1.When we do something many times, we can do it better.
P2. If we want to do something well, we must train. Etc.
b) T. OK. So, read the text and say why Tom should train a lot.

P1. I think, Tom should train a lot because his technique is not very good.
P2. I agree, he should train hard if he wants to make his technique better.

T. I agree to your opinions. The more and the harder you train the higher results you will achieve. Will you take turns to ask and answer the questions on the text. Do it in pairs. (Exercise 3 a) on page97) (Учні ведуть бесіду за змістом прочитаного тексту.).
III. Summarizing
1. Summing up the results of the lesson
T. Did you like the lesson? Which tasks did you like best? You worked hard today and I am satisfied with your work at the lesson. Well done.
2. Home assignment
T. I have learnt today that you actively go in for sports. I wonder, what sports clubs your friends, classmates and you attend in your school. Would you like to make short reports about that? I am sure, they will be interesting.
