Introduction
Every year school leavers decide a very question: which profession to choose from a great number of different jobs to become a successful person in future. Nobody wants to become a loser in life, everybody dreams of becoming masters of life, the winners.
That’s why it’s very important to make the right choice. Today we’ll try to sum up our work on the topic ‘ Careers. Interviews and Interviewers.’
Step 1. Work on Quotations.
There are a lot of successful and talented people in the world who have worked really hard to achieve their aims and goals. Without any doubt you know this man (a photo of Bill Gates is on the screen).There is a number of quotes made by this famous man and here you can see one of them.
‘It’s important to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure.’ (the teacher reads and comments it)
On your desks you see other quotes. Your task is to read and comment them.
(Pupils read, comment the quotes in small groups and stick them on the board)
See appendix 1
Step 2. Work with pictures.
Some people enjoy life and their success. But even being absolutely successful we have to remember that life can change everything from good to bad in no time.
Your next task will be:
Image and present your stories of these people’s lives. If it’s possible, match the quotes to your stories.
The pupils do the task in groups and present the stories to the class. They have to answer such questions:
· Image the age of a person;
· Characterize his/her profession/occupation;
· Say how she/he looks like;
· Use personality adjectives;
· Imagine his/her family life, how he/she feels about life.
How to work: A teacher reads out the beginning or a phrase and involves the pupils in discussion
A sample story
In the first picture we see a team of like-minded people discussing some important questions of the company’s management. They are very busy with work. Also it seems that they are smart and full of bright, efficient ideas. We are not sure, but we think that it is an up-to-date company of travel agency. In our opinion, due to their work in such a serious company, they pay more attention to work than private life. It seems to us, the man in the middle is their boss. He looks very clever, industrious and loyal. He should always be strict with his employees and keep all under control. His colleagues are young, ambitious people who dream about a successful future. These people seem to be very determined and hard-working. They will obviously become famous and successful one day in the future.
In the second picture we see the man who is out of work. He is very experienced and skillful and had been working for 15 years in the company dealing with finance and investment management. It seems to us he is looking for a job because such an ambitious man, like he is, can’t live without personal development and maybe he should run his family. We are not sure, but we think that the fact he had lost his work had caused a lot of problems in his private life and now his wife is going to divorce him. The lost of the job and family might have bad consequences for his health, but we think that such a smart man who has a lot of working experience, good education and skills will definitely find a well-paid job

See appendix 2
To sum up this kind of work, the teacher and the pupils read and discuss the words on the screen about failure and success.
How to succeed in life?
Talk – softly | Eat – sensibly |
Breathe – deeply | Sleep – sufficiently |
Dress – smartly | Act – fearlessly |
Work – patiently | Think – creatively |
Behave – decently | Earn – honestly |
Save – regularly | Spend – intelligently |

Step 3. Interviews.
To begin with, the teacher revises the rules of doing interviews. A ‘brainstorming’ activity is very helpful. Some pupils remind how to answer the question ‘Tell me about yourself.’ The second question is about the rules of correct behavior at the interview, other pupils speak about CVs and application letters.
A role play.
The pupils demonstrate their practical skills doing the interviews.
The class is split into interviewers, experts and applicants. The applicants are to apply for a part-time job of a tour guide, a voluntary work at World Aid and one applicant wants to enter a college. The interviewers are supposed to ask the sample questions:
Sample questions
What to expect:
· What do you know about the subject you are applying to study?
· Why are you interested in this subject?
· Have you done any volunteering?
· What will you contribute to our campus community? Etc.
When the interviews are done a group of experts and interviewers discuss the answers and inform about the results.

S tep mmarizing.
Never ever give up in achieving your goals. If you fail doing your first attempts in life or study, work hard to succeed. Let all your plans be realized and in the nearest future pupils of next generations will read and comment your quotes life, success and business.
