For you and me.
What are they?

T: You are right. They are books and the name of our lesson is “Books are our Friends”. The motto of the lesson is “The more we read, the more we know”. 1.Which S plays do you know?

While you watch ex3.p.30(The real Shakespeare Workbook)

After you watchex8 p,31 (The real Shakespeare Workbook)

4.Interwer with S.

T: Let’s imagine that thisfamous writer came to our school. Meet W. Shakespere.

P1: Hello! We are glad to meet you.

P2: Hello!

1.  You are one of the playwright's who are always salive. How did you manage to achieve this?

My themes are universal and are relevant to people all over the world at any given period in time. They are goods tories. People always like good stories.

2.  Where did you get your inspiration from?

From life around me, from history and sometimes I had to write what the Queen commissioned!

3.Tell us more about the Queen. Did you meet her? How much impact did she have on what or how you wrote?

Of course I met her. The Queen came to our plays. Naturally we had to perform something she agreedwith. I was careful never to offend her and to support her ideas.

4. Which of your plays do you like the best?

I couldn't possibly choose. They are all masterpieces! But I have to say that I'm especially proud of the great tragedies like Hamlet and Macbeth. I'm sorry but I find it hard to be modest!

5.Can I askyou a difficult question? Hope you don't mind. Some people say that you stole some of plays, that you did not write them yourselves. That they were written by some one else, was it Marlow?

Only jealous people say that! Sometimes the actors made suggestions and we worked as a team. But I did not steal ideas from Marlow! It is just difficult to believe that one man could write so many good plays. I am a genius. What can I say.

6.I hear theatre didn't use to be taken as seriously as it is now. Apparently people ate while watching a play. Is that true?

Yes people ate and talked and came and went during the performances. They participated and shouted encouragement or abu seat the actors on stage. However, that doesn't mean that they didn't take theatre seriously. Everybody came to the plays. They were a spopular as TV soaps are today.  The jokes were rude and sexy! My plays have only been considered intellectual  since the 19th century! Before that I was COOL.

7.Now, if I may, a few questions related to your life style and the times you lived in. What did you do in your free time? What kind of music did you listen to? What did you wear?

Apart from the clothes, life was much the same for theatre people thenasitistoday. We spent our free time in bars or taverns drinking too much and we worked veryhard. I had a good lifestyle because I was a clever businessman and bought shares in the theatre. I built a big house with a garden for my wife and children and sent them to the country to live in it. I stayed in London to work!  We listened to folk music and wore short jackets with big wide lose shorts over tights!

7.Pupils projects.

self-assessment

.

P1 thank you. You have learnt a lot of things about my family, about my native town, about my plaуs and my sonnets.

I think it was very interesting we will remember our lesson for a long time. Shakespeare was a great poet. He was “for all time”.
