| Good morning dear pupils, teachers and guests! Today at our lesson we’ll speak about sport in our life. We’ll learn the new words, do exercises, listen to the text, and answer the questions. Then we’ll speak about the Olympic Games in Sochi and sing a song. So, let’s start.

It is popular among young and old people. Sport makes people healthy, keeps them fit, more organized and better disciplined. It unites people of different classes and nationalities. Many people do morning exercises, jog in the morning; train themselves in clubs and different sections. Other people like sport too; they only watch sports game on TV and listen to the sports news. They prefer reading interesting stories about sportsmen but they do not go in for sports. Physical training is an important subject in school. Pupils have physical training twice a week. Boys and girls play volleyball and basketball at the lessons. There is a sport ground near school and schoolchildren go in for sports in the open air. A lot of different competitions are held at school. A great number of pupils take part in them. All participants try to get good results and become winner. Sport helps people to keep in good health. If you go in for sports you don't catch cold. Children and grown-ups must take care of their health and do morning exercises regularly. All kinds of physical exercises are very useful to make our bodies strong and to keep ourselves fit and healthy. There are some popular kinds of sport in our country: football, volleyball, hockey, gymnastics, skiing and other. Athletics is one of the most popular kinds of sport. It includes running, jumping and others. I think, tennis is a very intelligent kind of sport for clever thinking people. The best games are showed on TV. Basketball is very popular and is spread all over the world. It is the sport of strong tall men, the sport of giants. Sport is a good mean of struggling with stress. (football) F. Each team may have up to 17 players, only 6 of whom are allowed to play at the same time. Players must wear skates and numbered shirts. (Hockey) G. Contestants are weighed before the contest. The assistants must leave the ring before the fight begins. Contestants must wear gloves and must not hit an opponent behind the neck. (Boxing) H. A game in which 2 teams hit a large ball with their hands, backwards and over a high net. The ball is not allowed to bounce on the ground. (volleyball) I. A game of 2 players who each start with sixteen different playing pieces to move on a board. The Aim is to move your pieces so that your opponents king will be taken. (chess) J.
