1	“Yekaterinburg – between Moscow and Siberia”. Sightseeing tour around the city with a unique history. Founded in 1723 to provide the needed metals for Tzar Peter the Great’s new Navy, Yekaterinburg quickly established its popularity. The city became famous for the period of the “Gold Rush” in the 19th century, because of the gold found in the Urals. During the Revolution Ekaterinburg became the witness to last days of Russian Tzar Nicolas II. The assasination and bural places of the royal family have already been named The Russian Calvary. The city was closed to foreigners after the Second World War because of strategic military production facilities located there. Yekaterinburg has been open to foreigners for only about forteen years when Boris Yeltsin, a citizen of Yekaterinburg, was elected as the first president of the Russian Federation.
