Christmas poems

"Always burn a candle on Christmas Day.
When it is given with love, it will burn bright and clear,
and the holiday light shed by the candle foretells happiness
lasting all through the year."

The legend of the Christmas Candle foretells good luck, good health,
and happiness during the year if burned on Christmas Day.
Once lighted, it must be allowed to burn until it flickers out.
And once lighted, it must be allowed to burn to the end without being extinguished.

A mother took her little boy

To the department store

To introduce him to Santa Clause

And hear what he'd ask him for.

To her surprise, here's what she heard

And it filled her heart with joy.

He didn't ask, a thing, for himself

Not even one little toy.

"Oh, Santa Claus" she heard him say,

"I hear you're very kind;

Please give to the man on the corner, sight;

You see, that poor man's blind."

"And for my friend, who has no dad

To bring him toys all year;

Please give to him, the things you planned

To bring to me this year."

"And you know the little girl next door;

She can't hear a word I say.

Please let her hear the songs we sing

For this Christmas Day."

On Christmas Day, the little boy

Ran to the corner and there,

He saw the man, and saw him smile.

No longer, a cold blank stare.

Quickly, he ran to his little friend,

The one orphaned of his dad;

And there he saw so many toys,

More than he'd ever had.

Next, he went to the little girl's house,

НЕ нашли? Не то? Что вы ищете?

To see if she could hear,

And heard her singing Christmas Carols,

In tones, melodious and clear.

Happily, he ran to tell his mother the news

But she could see it in his face

That God had given to her son,

Each gift, with all His grace.

Author's note:
This poem was inspired by my son.
His dad was playing Santa at a friend's store
and he did not recognize his daddy.
All the things he asked for were true.
He was only four and a half years old at the time.
He is now a grown man with children
of his own and every year he plays Santa
in his small hometown in Maine.
He visits all the children and takes them small token gifts.
He makes me so proud.
A true Spirit of Christmas!

Close your eyes and listen

'cause this is a Christmas card

and I wrote it all down in this poem

'cause I find writing letters hard.

Close your eyes and listen

to the Christmas in your heart.

Can you hear the angels sing their song?

Can you see the guiding star?

I may not be there with you,

you are in my prayers.

And I wish you all a world of peace

on this Christmas that we share.

Close your eyes and remember

how the shepherds were like lambs

they followed that bright and calling star

on the road to Bethlehem.

Hold the hand of a loved one

'cause this is Christmas too.

And remember that this is the greatest gift

that God could give to you.

I may not be there with you,

but you are in my prayers.

And I wish you all a world of peace

on this Christmas that we share.

And I wish you all a world of love

on this Christmas that we share.

Mary, did you know that your baby boy

would one day walk on water.

Mary, did you know that your baby boy

would save our sons and daughters.

Did you know that your baby boy

has come to make you new;

this child that you delivered

will soon deliver you.

Mary, did you know that your baby boy

will give sight to a blind man.

Mary, did you know that your baby boy

will calm the storm with His hand.

Did you know that your baby boy

has walked where angels trod?

When you kiss your little baby,

you kiss the face of God!

Oh, Mary, did you know?

Oh, Mary, did you know?

The blind will see, the deaf will hear

the dead will live again.

the lame will leap, the dumb will speak

the praises of the lamb.

Mary, did you know that your baby boy

is Lord of all creation

Mary, did you know that your baby boy

will one day rule the nations.

Did you know that your baby boy

is heaven's perfect lamb?

This sleeping child you're holding

is the great I am.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way.

When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together

she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit;

and her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame,

resolved to divorce her quietly.

But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream,

saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife,

for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit;

she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus,

for he will save his people from their sins."

Matthew 1 v.18-22

Though we may be far apart,

let me send these words to you.

A message that comes from the heart,

a message felt so warm and true.

Time is one thing that escapes us all,

and time seems never on our side.

I'd like to spend the moments with you

and tell you what I feel inside.

May you have a Merry Christmas,

may your wishes all come true.

May you enjoy all of your tomorrows.

If we don't see you soon,

if we don't see you soon...

A very Merry Christmas to you...

to you.

As the year comes to a close

and the snow flies once again,

family and friends should be together,

it is that love we wish to send.

May you have a Merry Christmas,

may your wishes all come true.

May you enjoy all of your tomorrows.

If we don't see you soon,

if we don't see you soon...

A very Merry Christmas to you...

to you.

Music and lyrics by Mike Peace

I see trees of green, red roses too

I see them bloom for me and for you

And I think to myself... what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue, clouds of white

The bright blessed days, and dark sacred nights

And I think to myself... what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow

are so pretty in the sky

It's also on the faces

Of people going by.

I see friends shaking hands

Saying, "How do you do?"

They're really saying

I hear babies cry, and I watch them grow

They'll learn much more than I'll ever know

And I think to myself... what a wonderful world

I think to myself... what a wonderful world.

May this wonderful world bestow its blessings on you
and yours this holiday season.

The angels were singing on that holy night

to let us know Jesus was born.

A star was shining so heavenly bright

it lit up the sky like the morn.

Shepherds all watched as the star led the way

to a place where the little child lay.

The angels all joined in a heavenly choir

this is a most most glorious day.

They sang hush! hush!

let the little Child's dream

bring peace and joy and love.

They sang hush! hush!

and don't be afraid

this child was sent from above.

Three wise men came from a faraway land

to share in the wonderful joy.

What magic had brought them for such a long way

to see such a small baby boy?

And they sang hush! hush!

let the little child's dream

bring peace and joy and love.

They sang hush! hush!

and don't be afraid

this child was sent from above.
