As part of the launch of the St. Andrews Church Bell Restoration Appeal Fund, we are holding a ringing festival and craft fair on 30th July 10.00 – 4.00pm..
Visiting teams of ringers will demonstrate their skills. As well as the craft fair there will be coffee and cakes in the morning, a lunchtime barbecue, and cream teas in the afternoon, plus a bar in the village hall.

Sole Mates
This month’s walk will be held on Sunday 28th August, starting at 2.00 pm. The short walk will begin at 3.00 pm. Afterwards there will be tea, possibly cakes, and biscuits for a donation of £1.
A Regular Coffee Morning
We will be holding a COFFEE MORNING in the Village Hall on the second Friday of each month, from 1000 – 1200, starting 9th September. We hope this will be a chance to relax and meet other people from the Parish. Tea/coffee and cake £1.50.
Steve Knightley
Steve Knightley will be playing in the Village Hall on Friday 17th September. Steve is the singer/song writer and lead of the rock folk group, Show of Hands, and was a leading figure in the West Country commemorations of the Batlle of the Somme. He has a fan club and we expect that he will attract a significant audience from outside the parish. We will be advertising the event from mid August, so to be sure of reserving your seats, you need to contact Steve Graham (84309) in the next month. Tickets are £16.
Jamie’s Cycle for Sight
In August I will be cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats in aid of an amazing charity, Second Sight, which cures blindness in north east India.
This is a really worthy charity as none of the money it receives is spent on administration. All their funds go straight to supporting eye surgeons and their teams working in one of poorest parts of India.
If you donate only £20 you will cure someone of blindness and transform their life chances. You can donate online at –

Dear Friends
It had to come: a dirty van with ‘Don’t blame me, I voted Remain’ written in the grime. Somehow it sums up the current situation as I write this a week after the EU referendum. A nation – even households – divided; bewildered and angry with each other and looking for someone to blame. Both major political parties are in disarray with accusations of treachery, backstabbing and disloyalty. Alongside anger is fear: fear of the unknown, fear about pensions and fear over employment. Alongside anger and fear is gloom: gloom about English football, gloom about the weather and gloom about the housing market. The list goes on.
How can we be positive in these circumstances? Surely it involves listening to those who feel marginalised and guarding against being controlled by fear, concentrating on unity in our own country and building – and repairing – relationships with other nations to make a safe and successful future for our children and grandchildren.
As Christians we have the duty to pray for those in authority, that they may be guided to unite our nation and build trust and peace with other peoples throughout the world.
The Apostle Paul has useful advice for us as individuals and as a nation: ‘Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.’
Let us pray that we can move forward in healing and unity looking for the positives in the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
May the Peace of the Lord be with us.
