Frequently asked questions (FAQ’s) for Fall Baseball League – 2015 season

1.  What are the registration dates and where is it held?

Answer: August 18th & 25th, 2015 at the Oley Valley Youth League Pavilion from 6-7 PM.

2.  Which age levels is the OVYL participating in this season?

Answer: We will have 1 – 13U prep team, 2 – 10U teams (ages 8-10) & 1 – 8U (ages 8 & younger).

3.  When are practices held?

Answer: Each head coach will decide on their own team’s practice schedule and notify everyone on the team accordingly with dates, times, and location.

4.  When does the season start/stop and how many games will be played?

Answer: The Berks Fall league season starts the weekend of September 11-13 and concludes the weekend of October 30-November 1, 2015. It is typically an 8 week league schedule with a bye week. The schedule will be provided by the league a week or two prior to the season beginning. Typically between 8 to 10 games are played during the fall season.

5.  Who participates in the Berks Fall baseball league?

Answer: Oley will play various teams throughout the County, some at the OVYL, some at the location of the opposing team. Typically the teams are paired together based on similar level of play. Participating teams include local areas such as Fleetwood, Brandywine, Kutztown and Muhlenberg, etc.

6.  What is the registration fee for fall baseball and what does it cover?

Answer: The registration fee is $30 for all age levels, which includes umpire fees, insurance, and league entry fees/costs.

7.  What is the uniform for fall baseball?

Answer: To keep our costs low, we will utilize similar uniforms used for spring baseball, including the issued gray OV hat. Players should wear blue socks/belt, gray pants and an OVYL blue t-shirt if they have one from the spring season. We do have limited availability of blue t-shirts and hats if you do not have one.

8.  What is the playing policy for fall baseball?

Answer: Fall ball is more of a laid back instructional baseball league geared toward getting the kids experience and having fun. Everyone will have an opportunity to play similar amount of playing time in each game unless the coach decides otherwise for specific cause (i. e. disciplinary reasons). Disciplinary reasons include but are not limited to insubordination or behaviorial issues.

9.  Who will communicate with me during the season for cancellations, scheduling, etc.?

Answer: The head coach or other designated person (asst. coach, team parent, etc.).

10.  Who do I contact if I have an issue?

Answer: Please contact the head coach directly initially. If the matter cannot be amicably resolved, please contact Mike Reinert, OVYL Baseball Commissioner at *****@***org or 484-256-4748. We would ask that you give the head coach the first opportunity to resolve the issue.

11.  What are the expectations of the parents?

Answer:

a.  Positively support and encourage all team players and coaches

b.  To be respectful of all officiating umpires during all games

c.  Notify the head coach if you are not able to attend a scheduled game or practice

d.  Volunteer your time to assist in field preparation or other tasks where requested
