2016 Invitation for Nominations and Guidelines

The Rutgers University Clement A. Price Human Dignity Awards, administered by the Committee to Advance Our Common Purposes honors individuals and groups who have demonstrated extraordinary achievement and commitment to promoting and practicing diversity and inclusion at Rutgers University and in the broader community. The Human Dignity Award program is open to all University students, faculty, staff, organizations, departments, and units from Camden, Newark, New Brunswick/Piscataway. Non-Rutgers individuals and groups whose projects have ties to the University and have demonstrated the same dedication to diversity are also eligible. If a nominee’s diversity efforts are job-related, the nomination must exemplify how the nominee’s diversity and inclusion related achievements are extraordinary and beyond the scope of assigned duties. At an awards ceremony to be held in April, each recipient will receive a citation and a monetary gift, all or a portion of which may be donated, for diversity enhancements, to an organization of the recipient’s choice.

Criteria for Prospective recipients include:

·  Forging intercultural cooperation and collaboration among groups that ordinarily have not worked together;

·  Demonstrated a sense of social responsibility and respected as a role model;

·  Reducing prejudice and promoting respect for diversity, inclusion, equity and access;

·  Creating an inclusive community and climate of civility among students, faculty, and staff;

·  A history of developing sustainable projects

Please submit the following:

1.  Nomination Form: All nominators must complete a nomination form with a narrative that addresses each or one of the above criteria. Letters of endorsement of nominees are welcomed but not required.

2.  Nominee Abstract: Please complete, in no more than 200 words, a brief overview of the reasons you have nominated this person, group, or organization for the award. Language from the “Abstract” will appear on the award citation as well as in the printed program.

3.  Nominee Adherence to Criteria: In no more than three pages, please explain how the nominee exemplifies the criteria. You can include details of the nominee’s programs, services, character, and outstanding accomplishments.

4.  Due Diligence: The nominator should be thorough and meticulous in writing the narrative and preparing the nomination.
