The name of the Center is the title of the project and must be identical to the one submitted on-line in the section Identificaciуn (tab Antecedentes)

I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY (2 pages)

This summary must consider the main activities that the Center will perform indicating 1) the region of execution, 2) the way in which regional linkage will be tackled, 3) the STEM focus, 4) the research lines, 5) the plan for advanced human capital formation, 6) the national and international collaboration plan and 7) the dissemination plan. Indicate the relevance of the Lines of Research in relation to the objectives of the proposal and in accordance with the objectives of the Second National Contest for Centers of Research in Education. Refer to the expected Impact of the Center’s activities in the Chilean educational system and society.

II. ADMINISTRATION OF THE CENTER

II.1 GOVERNANCE (3 pages)

Indicate the main participants and entities (universities, foundations, others) involved in the decision-making processes and strategic planning of the Center. Refer to the specific way in which the Council of the Center, advisory councils and/or other actors will be related to each other and at what level in order to implement strategies to meet the goals of the Center. Indicate the protocols for the performance of activities and the replacement of members of the Council of the Center. Describe the main activities of the national and international members of the Council of the Center and how it will interact with the Director, Manager, Principal Researchers, possible new researchers, professionals. II.2 ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION OF THE CENTER (3 pages)

Explain the administrative structure of the Center. Show the organization of the Center indicating the positions (names if available) of all participants (Director, Manager, Principal Researchers, etc.). Modify the chart according to the structure of the Center. The CVs of each of the researchers must be updated on the Website www. portaldelinvestigador. cl at the closing of this call.

 

Also, indicate the levels of interaction between the participants (First Degree students, postgraduate students, researchers, postdocs, etc.) of the Center with the Principal Institution, Associate Institution(s), Third parties, etc. Refer to the interactions among universities, regional representatives and authorities, enterprises, public or private entities of the region of execution, researchers of other institutions or disciplines and the responsibilities with/of the Principal Institution.

II.2.1 MANAGER OF THE CENTER (1 page)

Provide the profile for the manager who will be hired in case the Center is granted in this contest. Indicate what his/her responsibilities will be.

III PROJECT OF THE CENTER

III.1 STATE OF THE ART (5 pages)

Provide background and describe the present situation of the research in the area (as well as the implementation of results at national and international level) which will be the focus of the Center. Give information about the disciplinary area(s) the Center will cover. Refer (cite) the related bibliographic material. Indicate why the creation/consolidation of the Center is relevant for the educational system in Chile as well as globally.

III.2 PROPOSAL OF THE CENTER (20 pages)

Fully develop the overall work plan for the creation and operation of the Centre, including the STEM approach, in what areas, for what purposes, general objectives, specific objectives, research lines and goals. For each one of the lines of research include the general hypotheses to be tested, the methodological design, including the object(s)/ subject(s) of study to be used to achieve each specific objective (Remember to include the template for the Informed Consent that will be used in case it is required). Identify the researchers in charge of every line of research. Describe how the different lines of research complement among each other and what their relevance for the Chilean educational system is. Expected changes to established methods and/or the development of new methods must be explained at this point. Any application or methodological development must be justified. Refer to the expected impact in the region of execution and its further national projection, as well as to the actions that will be taken in order to achieve it.

III.4 FOR REGIONAL LINKAGE (6 pages)

This section consists of two subsections, the first one (BACKGROUND) must refer to the region selected to carry out the project of the Center and describe the specific activities and results of the actions taken in order to establish the linkage with the region of execution. Also, it must provide background information such as previous experience(s), specific activities and results in the field of regional linkage. It must also indicate the present agreements that support the coordination and collaboration required to carry out the project of the Center in the region. The second subsection (PROJECTIONS) must indicate the strategies planned for the development and strengthening of regional networks which will allow to establish permanent regional linkage. Describe the types of activities planned and identify participants of the Center who will be responsible of this task, indicating their specific expertise and duties. On the other hand, it must indicate the strategies for the effective transfer of knowledge, application of methodologies and/or implementation of practices resulting from the activities of research in the specific region. Refer also to the expected impact at regional level and its projection to national level, the strategies and actions that will be implemented and the planned time for carrying out this plan.

III.5 FORMATION AND ATTRACTION OF NEW RESEARCHERS’ PLAN (3 pages)

Describe the strategy and relevant actions for developing new critical mass for the disciplines and scientific subjects covered by the research lines of the Center. Indicate the training activities aimed at new researchers, professionals and students at First Degree and postgraduate level and the expected impacts resulting from these activities. Identify the researchers that will be responsible of the accomplishment of this strategy and execution of this plan.

III.6 NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION PLAN

National collaboration: (3 pages)

Indicate the activities designed to establish interaction between national institutions and/or researchers whose participation will strengthen the possibilities to achieve the goals of the Center, especially in relation to the formation of advanced human capital in STEM in the region where the project of the Center will be executed.

International collaboration: (3 pages)

Describe the plans for coordination and collaboration with international research institutions in STEM education. Describe the effective interaction activities in relation to the activities of the Center and their expected impact in relation to the goals of the Center, especially in relation to the formation of advanced human capital in STEM in the region where the project of the Center will be executed.

III.7 DISSEMINATION PLAN (OUTREACH) (3 pages)

Refer to the activities oriented to the dissemination of the Center's activities and results to relevant external public as well as to the community as part of the Plan for Regional Linkage.

IV WORKING PLAN
