Description - This course covers the design of web pages and web sites. Topics include tables, frames, embedded multimedia objects and script language, as well as basic aesthetic issues. Appropriate software such as Wordpress will be used.

Course Objectives:

+ Code and Programming of basic HTML5, CSS3, and XML for web pages.

+ Learn tools in Wordpress to design and layout web pages

+ Upload and manage web site content

+ Manage and hire a web production team

+ Adding Social Media to web sites - Youtube, Linkin, Facebook, RSS feeds

+ Content Management - The Design of web sites is about online information management. This class will cover organizing content for web sites. The content will include: writing for the web, photography for web sites, forms and user input, and managing social media.

Book: No books for this class. We will be using the Wordpress. org and the environment. Most of the learning will come from these web sites.

Software - This class will include instruction in Adobe Photoshop and Wordpress. org.

Lecture and Homework. Each week I will lecture about concepts and demonstrate how to build web sites. Students should attend every class. If you cannot attend class please email Instructor at *****@***com

Grading:

Student will be graded on an A through F grade scale. A - 100 to 90 points. B - 89 to 80 points. C - 79 to 70 points. D - 69 to 60 points. F - 59 to 0 points.

Class Total 100 points Break Down. The points are broken down to each weekly assignment, written proposal and final exam.

Week 1 – Build basic site in – 10 points - you will email a link to the site after class. Aug 31

Week 2 Vocabulary words - 10 points due second week – 10 points - Due – Sept. 7

Week 3 Web Site Review – read article writing for web and write short article listing the guidelines for writing web site content – 10 points – Sept 14

Week 4 UX Design and web site idea - 10 Points - Written paper – Sept 21

Week 5 Assignment is Photography and UX Design Paper – 10 Points – Sept 28

Week 6 Written Completed Written Proposal - 10 Points – Oct 5

Week 7 Plugin list and Input Form - 10 points Oct 12

Week 8 - Final Web site and Presentation. 10 Points – Oct 19

Final Exam is 20 multiple choice questions –20 points Oct 19

The main challenge of the class is organization of content for the web. It is very important that you learn how to manage computer files, write content for web sites, and understand the technology aspects of the Internet.
