Цель: 1. Систематизировать и закрепить пройденный материал по теме «Что волнует молодое поколение»

2. Практиковать учащихся в монологической, диалогической речи, аудировании, использовании предлога like и союза as.

3. Способствовать формированию толерантного отношения к представителям других стран.

4. Совершенствовать умение сравнивать и делать выводы на основе прочитанного и сказанного.

Today I want to discuss with you the following topic “Are Russian teens the same as in the USA and Britain” Do you have the same problems as teens all over the world do?” So let me write down the topic on the green board. Your homework was to find some information about American teens, British teens and to describe Russian teens. That’s why we have three groups now. According to our topic guess what learning aims do we have today? Yes, right you are and I hope you will work hard to reach these aims and answer the question. American schools provide students more than just education. More than 80 percent of all students participate in activities such as sports, publishing school newspaper, drama.

At leisure, students spend much time watching television. They also listen to music.

The youth of America work a lot after school.

Many teenagers join religious groups. Others are members of youth organizations such as Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. So, about three million girls and young women between the ages of six and seventeen are Girl Scouts. They are familiar with the matter of citizenship, exploring arts and crafts, are engaged in tourism and other activities outdoors. Thousands of young people are volunteers who take care of the sick, the elderly and the disabled people.

Clothes

American teens don’t care much about fashion. For example students wardrobe consists of blue jeans, jumpers, t-shirts and shirts. They do not like fur and leather clothes.

Music

An American teenager listens to music by the radio for about three hours a day. There is no doubt that the most popular style of music among American teens is rock 'n' roll.

The preferred groups are “The Beatles” , Metallica and Nirvana.

The main problem

American teens prefer to eat fast food, sweet desserts (sweets, cakes, ice cream, etc.), sugary soft drinks and alcoholic drinks, salty snacks (chips, crackers, etc.) and fruit drinks. All these products are considered to be unhealthy in the U. S. (they contain practically no vitamins) and cause obesity.

They don’t think much about their health.

The main problems

Young Britons begin taking drugs, drinking alcohol at the age of 13-15 .

n  44% of British teenagers in 2006 were involved in fights. For comparison: in Germany only 28% of teenagers in France - 36%, Italy - 38%.

n  British teens also have problems with alcohol: 27% of respondents said that they drink. In Italy only 5%, France – 3%.

n  According to research British children don’t like to discuss their problems with their parents.

n  Teenagers spend much time in the streets than at home. They are influenced by friends, classmates but not parents.

Clothes

British teens prefer to look like famous people, including model Agyness Deyn, Kate Moss, the musicians, Jim Morrison, Pete Doherty, jazz singer Amy Winehouse. That's why the same messy hair, carelessly thrown over scarves, and interesting make-up, or its absence.

This is one of the varieties of informal youth subculture of the new generation. They are for "cigarettes, coffee, tousled hair, anorexic thinness, a lot of different rings on fingers, heels, leather jackets and black leather jackets, Short haircuts and unreal-long hair, black, red, blue, cherry red and other bright and causing varnish on short nails.

They like to listen to rock 'n' roll, glam rock, punk, 60's, 70's early 80's. "

Leisure time

n  British teenager of 13-16 years old spend online 31 hours a week.

n  35 minutes - to visit the sites about diet and loosing weight.

n  About 1 hour per week about plastic surgery

n  and a half - to sites on family planning and pregnancy.
