1. Рассказать гостям о традициях и обрядах празднования Нового года в других странах.

2. Нарабатывать практику выступления учащихся перед гостями мероприятия.

3. Воспитывать активное участие в разных видах деятельности: викторины, конкурсы.

4. Воспитывать умение поделиться своим опытом работы по изготовлению новогодних подарков.

5. Создать праздничное настроение у учащихся и гостей мероприятия.

Good afternoon, dear boys, girls and guests of our lesson Today we shall find out how people celebrate the New Year in different countries. But what do you know about this holiday? Do you like New Year’s Day?

History of New Year (1)

New Year is one of the main holidays not only in Belarus, but also all over the world.

Since Xth century Belarus celebrated New Year on March 1st, in XV century New Year was transferred to September, 1st.

Peter I changed a calendar according to the West-European calendar. And began to celebrate New Year on January, 1st, but again with backlog for 14 days from the Gregorian calendar.

Holiday Traditions

New Year's Day is the most beloved holiday for all Belarusians.

Many people go to the countryside to ski. Others love to stay at home with their relatives and friends. New Year ’s Day is a holiday, when people spend time with their family.

On today’s event we would like to talk about holidays and traditions in the world. What is holiday?

The word holiday comes from the Old English word hāligdæg (hālig "holy" + dæg "day"). The word originally referred only to special religious days. In modern use, it means any special day of rest or relaxation, as opposed to normal days away from work or school.
