    Развитие интереса к изучению иностранного языка; Развитие лингвистической догадки; Развитие творческого мышления;

Воспитательная:

    Воспитание уважения к одноклассникам.

Ход урока

T. – Good morning, my dear girls, boys and guests of our lesson. Today we’ll speak about two great holidays – New Year’s day and Christmas. But what do you know about these holidays?

Please, answer my questions.

1.  When is Christmas celebrated in the UK?

2.  When is Christmas celebrated in Russia?

3.  When is New Year’s day celebrated in the UK and in Russia?

4.  Where is New Year’s day more popular in Great Britain or in Russia?

5.  Do you like New Year’s Day? And what about Christmas?

6.  Do you like to get New Year presents?

7.  What do you usually get for presents?

Let’s organize a competition devoted to these holidays. For the competition you should make 2 teams.(Дети делятся на команды «по жребию»)

But before to start, please name your teams. The names should be connected with the theme of our lesson.

- Сначала хочу загадать вам несколько загадок, связанных с темой нашего праздничного занятия. Listen to the riddles very attentively.

1.  It’s time when it is snowing, when all children do skating, skiing, make snowmen and play snowballs.

2.  We celebrate it on the 1st of January.

3.  He always comes in the night of New Year and brings presents to good boys and girls.

4.  We decorate it when it is New Year with garlands, colourful balls and other toys.

T. – Well done! Now let’s play the game “Associations”. You should remember as many as possible words connecting with New Year and Christmas as you can. The team who can remember more words wins.

Конкурс “Decorating the New Year Tree”

T. – We always have a lot of associations when we speak about New Year and Christmas. And of course we can’t imagine New Year without the beautiful New Year tree. Do you decorate the New Year Tree at home?

Well, let’s also decorate the New Year Tree in our classroom. We have 2 New Year Trees. The rules of the game are the following^ each member of your teams comes up to me one by one, takes a toy from this box, names it in English and puts on the tree. If you don’t know the name of the toy may ask for help of your team.

Конкурс “Congratulations”

T. – Well, on holidays we usually congratulate our parents, relatives and friends. But how do we do it? What do we say? Do you know some congratulations in English? (Ученики называют поздравления) Well done! And now let’s look at our New Year Trees once more. There are some cards on them. Do you see? Let’s take these cards and read them to our guests. But you know our guests have come from the other country. They don’t know English. That’s why they need an interpreter. Each team should choose their interpreter.

Участники из каждой команды по очереди снимают с елки открытки, читают их гостям, а переводчик говорит их по-русски.

T. – Your congratulations are really great! I think our guests like them/ But we also can congratulate our relatives, teachers and friends reciting them poems, aren’t we? I know that you’ve learnt poems about New Year and Christmas. Please.

(Ученики читают стихи)

T. – Yes, we all like New Year and Christmas. We like to get presents, greeting cards. Let’s congratulate each other with the help of a New Year Card. Each team will make a card for the other team. You may use all poems and congratulations we mentioned today.

(Каждой команде выдается лист бумаги, карандаши, маркеры, клей и разные новогодние картинки. Пока дети работают звучит новогодняя музыка.)

T. – Well our lesson is over. Today we’ve spoken about two great holidays, congratulated each other, recited poems? Decorated our New Year trees and made New Year Cards. Now I offer you to sing the famous Christmas song “Jingle Bells”
