Giving the theme, aims and the plan of the lesson

So who can tell me what we are going to speak about today?

You are absolutely right! The theme of our topic today is “Eating Habits”. Why? I think that everyone likes to travel. Am I right? … So I hope our lesson will help you to make an order in the restaurant somewhere abroad because today we have to work with the text and the dialogue and of course some grammar  “Indefinite personal and impersonal  sentences”

НЕ нашли? Не то? Что вы ищете?

Working with the text:

Well done! Now you have a short text. I’m going to read you the sentence in Russian and you are to find its English equivalent in the text.

Eating Habits in Britain

7. As a rule Englishmen eat three times a day. 2. They have breakfast in the mourning. 5. Traditional English breakfast consists of cereal, a toast with marmalade and jam, juice and a cup of tea or coffee. 4. Lunch is usually between 12 a. m and 1 p. m. 3. During the lunch one usually goes to the cafй or restaurant.  8. In Britain one can find a lot of restaurants with national cuisines: Italian, Chinese and etc.

       1. The main meal is dinner at which the whole family gathers together. 6. It is the time for chatting but not only for eating.

Главный прием пищи — ужин, за которым собирается вся семья. Утром они завтракают. Обычно в обеденный перерыв идут в кафе или ресторан. Обед бывает между 12 и часом дня. Традиционный английский завтрак состоит из овсянки, тоста с мармеладом или джемом, сока и чашки чая или кофе. Это время для общения, а не только для еды. Англичане, как правило, едят три раза в день. В Великобритании можно встретить большое количество ресторанов с национальной кухней — итальянских, китайских и так далее.

       Working with grammar:

We are to work with grammar material. And first of all answer my questions:
How do we form indefinite personal sentences? What is the difference between pronouns one and they performing the function of the subject in the indefinite personal sentence? How do we form impersonal sentences?
Now, please, find out tow indefinite personal sentences and one impersonal sentence in the text.

Indefinite personal sentences:

During the lunch one usually goes to the cafй or restaurant.  In Britain one can find a lot of restaurants with national cuisines: Italian, Chinese and etc.

Impersonal sentence:

It is the time for chatting but not only for eating.

Translate the following sentences from Russian into English.

Говорят, что твоя сестра хорошо готовит. Мне обычно требуется 30 минут, чтобы приготовить ужин. Следует пользоваться ножом, когда ешь это блюдо. Жаль, что он не сможет прийти на праздник. Говорят, что здесь самая лучшая итальянская кухня. Будет поздно, когда вы вернетесь.

Work with the dialogue

Next, listen to Vlad and Pasha who are going to present you a dialogue. And your task is to put the sentences in the right order to make up a dialogue.

B — I am hungry. I would like to go somewhere to have a snack.

J — As a matter of fact, I haven't had anything to eat since breakfast. We may go to this cafe.

C — Yes, let's go there. The prices are reasonable and the choice of dishes is very nice.

A — Do you fancy eating soup?

F — I'd like mushroom soup. What about you?

G — Not me. I want meat salad.

H — As for me, I prefer beef with green vegetables.

L — What about the main course? Would you like meat or fish?

E — Fish and potatoes, I think.

I — What would you like to drink?

K — I will do with mineral water.

D — Then I'll take the same. Will you order a bottle of fizzy mineral water for both of us?

M — Yes, of course. So, one meat salad, one mushroom soup, beef with vegetables, fish and potatoes, and a bottle of mineral water. That's all, I think.

N — Let's make the order.

Listen to the dialogue one more time and check yourselves. Look up at the slide and compare you code with the given to you one. Reading the dialogue in pairs and translating.

Giving home task:

Your home task is to make up the dialogue using the model given to you.

Conclusion:

Thank you for your active work during the lesson. But now let’s make the resume. Did you like our lesson? Did you learn something new? Can you say that you understand what indefinite personal and impersonal sentences are? Your marks are … the lesson is over you may be free.
