PHONOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE TEXT
1. Say to what phonostyle the text bstantiate your arguments by examples on the segmental and suprasegmental levels.
2. Pick out one or two sentences and read (transcribe) them in different national varieties of English and in British dialects.
3. Analyse the syllabic structure of several words according to different theories. Find cases of open and close juncture.
4. Give full articulatory features of several consonant and vowel phonemes. Characterise them from the point of view of their distinctive and non-distinctive features.
5. Choose 3-4 minimal pairs and characterize the oppositions according to Trubetskoy’s system of oppositions.
6. Choose any phoneme and point out all its allophones in the text.
7. Give examples illustrating different tendencies in word stress.
