2. Module 1. Describing Yourself.

Grammar: Present Simple, Present Continuous, Defining Relative Clauses (who, which).

Vocabulary: family, personality adjectives, prepositions of place, common verb phrases.

Practical English: At the airport


3. Module 2. The story behind a photo.


Grammar: Past Simple (regular, irregular verbs), Past Continuous, Questions with and without auxiliaries, so, because, but, also.

Vocabulary: holidays, question words, prepositions of place and time in, at, on, verb phrases.

Practical English: At the conference hotel


4. Module 3. An informal letter.


Grammar: Going to, Present Continuous (future arrangements), promises,  offers, predictions, decisions.  Review of tenses: present, past, future.

Vocabulary: look after/for etc. verb+prepositions.


Practical English: Restaurant problems.



5. Module 4. Describing where you live.


Grammar:  Present Perfect + ever, never. Present Perfect + just already, paratives: as…as, less/ perlatives.

Vocabulary: Clothes. Verb phrases. Opposite adjectives. Time expressions.

Practical English: Lost in San Francisco.


6. Module 5. A formal letter.


Grammar:  Uses of infinitive+ to, Verb+ing form, have to, don’t have to, must, mustn’t. Expressing movements.

Vocabulary: verb+infinitives, verbs followed by –ing, prepositions of movement.

Practical English: At a department store.



7. Module 6. If something bad can happen it will.


Grammar: First, Second Conditional. May/might – possibility, should/shouldn’t.

Vocabulary: verb+infinitives, verbs followed by –ing, prepositions of movement.

Practical English: At the pharmacy.



8. Module 7. Describing a building.


Grammar.  Present Perfect - for or since. Present Perfect or Past Simple. Used to. Passive voice.

Vocabulary: Words related to fear. Biographies.

Practical English: A boat trip.


9. Module 8. Giving your opinion.


Grammar: Something, anything, nothing. Quantifiers, too, not enough, so/neither. Word order of phrasal verbs.

Vocabulary: Adjectives ending in –ed and –ing. Health and lifestyle. Phrasal verbs.

Practical English: On the phone.



10. Module 9. What a week!


Grammar: Past Perfect. Reported Speech

Vocabulary: Adverbs - suddenly, immediately. Say, tell or ask?
