Prov. 29:25 Страх человека ставит ловушку: а всякий надеющийся на ГОСПОДА будет в безопасности.
1. Fear has two sides to it.
2. If you weren’t afraid of anything you wouldn’t last very long.
ILL. Red light makes you stop and look.
ILL. If you weren’t afraid of fire you would last very long.
Prov. 1:7 Страх Господень – начало знания
Fear of man, trust in God.
ILL. Many make wrong decisions because they fear man more than God.
Luke 12:5
Но заранее предупрежу вас, кого вам бояться: Бойтесь того, кто, после того, как убьет, имеет власть бросить в ад; да, говорю вам, Того бойтесь.
Heb. 11:7
Верой Ной, предупрежденный Богом о том, что не видимо еще, движимый страхом, приготовил ковчег к спасению своего дома;
Fear is a good thing also
ILL. Fear that if you don’t work you won’t be able to feed your family.
ILL. On the front lines a soldier ducks his head for fear of getting shot in the head.
“Generally speaking if a man fears men he will not fear God. If a man fears God he will not fear man.”
“Wisdom is to know when to be afraid and when NOT to be afraid.”
The fear of man is probably the greatest reason why young people will not trust in the Lord.
ILL. Many a young boys were talked into doing something for fear of being called a sissy.
ILL. Pressure to drink, smoke, etc.
Fearing others’ opinion.
ILL. Having to feel they BELONG to something. Facebook, etc.
ILL. Not joining a gang unless you kill somebody.
inner-city gang — городская шайка juvenile gang — банда несовершеннолетних street gang — уличная шайка
ILL. Jumping off a sinking ship.
THE FEAR OF MAN –
I. CAUSE YOU TO DENY THE LORD
1. People lose rewards after salvation
ILL. Peter denied the Lord, fearing man
2. Get you to make guilty compromises with the world system,
ILL. Herod fears and gave a choice – knowing he heard John.
Mark 6:19, 20

ILL. “separation,” “isolation,” are not conducive to good politics
Ecumencial movement, etc.
ILL. A man said, Some of my friends are of one party and some of my friends are for another party. And I’m glad that I stand with my friends.

“Do you love him.”

“No. I’m afraid to.”
“Well then if you marry him, you’ll have to tell him later.”

3. People going to hell because they fear man –
Rev. 21:8
Но боязливые, и неверующие, и мерзкие, и убийцы, и блудники, и колдуны, и идолопоклонники, и все лжецы будут иметь свою часть в озере, которое горит огнем и серой: что есть смерть вторая.
ILL. Modern education doesn’t teach you what to be afraid of and what not to be afraid of.
FEAR OF MAN –
II. IT LEADS TO SILENCE безмолвие AND INACTIVITY бездеятельность
1. Soul-winning stops
ILL. Do all of your relatives know that you are saved?
Do they know that you go to a Bible believing Baptist Church?
That is old fashioned, etc.
ILL. “Street preaching doesn’t do any good.”
ILL. Lack of one on one, soul-winning, confrontational witnessing.
Acts 1:8
Но вы примите силу, после того, как сойдет на вас Дух Святой: и вы будете мне свидетелями и в Иерусалиме, и во всей Иудее, и в Самарии, и до самой дальней части земли.
ILL. Good Christian morale high morale — высокий боевой дух
Knowing you’re saved. Knowing where you are going after death,
Knowing Who you are going to see, and caring less what the world thinks about that. And saying “This is the way it is.” And sticking with that all the rest of your life.
Prov. 28:1 а праведные смелы, как лев.
APPLICATION:
ILL. It is good to get in the habit of being rejected, laughed at, etc.
ILL. Young Christian went into a bar. Approached a biker.
“Do you think Christians are tough?”
“No”
“Well if I dare you to do something and you do it I’ll show you how tough I am. Go and pull the plug on the music. And I’ll stand on the pool table and I’ll preach the Gospel.”

III. CAN HINDER YOUR RACE
Gal. 5:7 Вы бежали хорошо; кто воспрепятствовал вам, чтобы вы не покорялись истине?
ILL. Before on fire for God then you slowed down.
Many times it’s the fear of man that slows you down.
ILL. Young man called to preach and then gets threatened.
III. THE CURE OF FEAR (Prov. 29:25)
Trust in God
Страх человека ставит ловушку: а всякий надеющийся на ГОСПОДА будет в безопасности.
ILL. Peter walked on the water but fell. He looked to the Lord.
1. Trust in God will keep you safe from yielding to temptation.
Matt. 26:41 Бодрствуйте и молитесь, чтобы не войти вам в искушение: дух действительно желает, но плоть слаба.
ILL. Team prepares all week before the competition.
ILL. No prayer-no power; little prayer, little power; praying always, power always.
2. The fear of the Lord will keep you safe from harm
2 Tim. 4:16-18
При первом моем ответе никто не стоял со мной, но все оставили меня: молю Бога, чтобы это не вменилось им в вину.
17 Однако Господь стоял со мной, и укрепил меня; чтобы через меня проповедь была полностью познана, и чтобы услышали все язычники: и я был избавлен из пасти льва.
18 И Господь избавит меня от каждого злого дела, и сохранит для своего небесного царства: которому да будет слава во веки вечные. Аминь.
ILL. Talked to a passenger while in the plane about dying.
2 Cor. 5:8 Уверены, говорю я, и желаем лучше отсутствовать в теле, и присутствовать у Господа.
Phil. 1:6 Будучи уверен именно в том, что тот, кто начал доброе дело в вас, будет совершать его до дня Иисуса Христа:
YOU ARE SAFE, ETERNALLY SAFE IN THE HANDS OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
ILL. Workers told one lady she’d better quit witnessing, or else she’d get fired.
“Well, I love the Lord and I’m going to witness.”
She was called on the carpet. “We’ve been getting some complaints about you witnessing.”
“Sorry! I’ve tried to be tactful about it. I haven’t taken time from their work to witness.
“Are you going to keep on witnessing”
“Yes if opportunity arises.”
“Good. That’s what we want. You get a raise.”
Страх человека ставит ловушку: а всякий надеющийся на ГОСПОДА будет в безопасности.
Safe in time and safe in ETERNITY!
You never have to worry about going to hell.
You might worry about a number of things; getting married too fast, dying early, making wrong decisions, but there is ONE thing you DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT AND THAT IS YOU’RE NOT GOING TO HELL IF YOU ARE SAVED.
ILL. Men working on a scaffold while street preacher was preaching on hell.
“There is no hell…”
Boss below said, “You’d better be quiet. You might slip and fall and find out real soon whether there’s a hell or not.”
APPLICATION:
When time comes to die you can face it like the apostle Paul and like Jesus Christ.
ILL. Young man survived a shipwreck not far from shore. He found a big boulder. All night he had to whether the storm on a rock.
They tried to get another boat out there to save him but the winds were too strong. The next day the winds calmed down and he finally made it to shore. They asked him, “Were you shakin’ out there”
“Yeah but the rock didn’t shake.” Amen!
4. Knowing what we’ve been given –
2 Tim. 1:7, 8
7 Ибо Бог дал нам не духа боязни; но силы, и любви, и здравого ума.
8 Не стыдись поэтому свидетельства Господа нашего, ни меня, узника его: но будь участником страданий евангелия согласно силе Бога;
1. God’s power но силы
ILL. Out of nothing God created everything.
ILL. He made God a man in flesh.
ILL. Preserved His word.
Power to encounter foes and dangers; power to bear up under trials; power to triumph in persecutions. That is, it is the nature of the gospel to inspire the mind with holy courage.
Lu 24:49
И, вот, я посылаю обещание Отца моего на вас: но вы оставайтесь в городе Иерусалиме, пока не будете наделены силой свыше.
2. God’s love и любви
i. He gave the only Son He had for you.
ii. Nothing will do more to inspire courage, to make a man fearless of danger, or ready to endure privation and persecution, than love.
iii. The love of country, and wife, and children, and home, makes the most timid bold when they are assailed; and the love of Christ and of a dying world nerves the soul to great enterprises, and sustains it in the deepest sorrows.
iv. Perfect love to God (1 John 4:18, 19)
В любви нет страха; но совершенная любовь изгоняет страх: потому что страх имеет мучение. Кто боится, тот не сделался совершенным в любви.
19 Мы любим его, потому что он прежде возлюбил нас.
3. Sound mind и здравого ума
i. A sound mind is firm, healthy, reasonable, strong, and founded in truth.
2 Tim. 1:13
Крепко держись образца здравых слов, которые ты слышал от меня, в вере и любви, которая во Христе Иисусе.
ILL. Nicholson got saved but he had a fear of witnessing. He realized that he wouldn’t be much for God unless he got rid of the fear of man. He ended up going to a “Salvation Army” and enquired about going street preaching with them.
They were to march down the street while one preached and a young girl collected some funds with an upside down tambourine.
Nicholson made up his mind he wasn’t going to let a young girl show him what bravery is. So then he simply lost his fear of public opinion and began to preach.
