Preface / Предисловие
Данное учебное пособие разработано в помощь студентам 4 курса факультета экономики, отделения Статистика, анализ данных и демография, в освоении дисциплины Иностранный язык (английский). Пособие подготовлено в соответствии с программой дисциплины Иностранный язык (английский), разработанной на кафедре английского языка факультета экономики НИУ ВШЭ и утвержденной в 2011 году, а также с учетом положений Концепции преподавания иностранных языков в НИУ ВШЭ, принятой в 2010 году.
Целью создания данного учебного пособия является формирование коммуникативной компетенции, необходимой студентам в учебной, научной и профессиональной деятельности. В пособии были разработаны упражнения и учебные ситуации, способствующие формированию коммуникативной компетенции на уровне языка, речи и дискурса. В результате освоения материалов данного учебного пособия студенты будут:
1 знать содержание тем, формирующих базовое представление о специальности Статистика, анализ данных и демография; стратегии выполнения заданий на чтение с целью извлечения общей и частной информации; приемы конспектирования устной речи; особенности стиля научной письменной речи, а также разновидности академической письменной речи (summary, review, essay), а также особенности организации самостоятельной работы по освоению дисциплины Английский язык;
2 уметь корректно произносить и употреблять термины, а также устойчивые выражения, свойственные языку специальности; формулировать мысли посредством английского языка в процессе порождения устной и письменной речи; использовать инструменты информационно-образовательной среды LMS (система управления учебным процессом) НИУ ВШЭ для целей самообразования и подготовки к аудиторным занятиям;
3 иметь навыки аналитического чтения аутентичных текстов, написания монорефератов на основе научных статей по специальности, конспектирования устной речи, работы с параллельными текстами и корпусом академического английского языка.
Особенностью данного учебного пособия является то, что все используемые материалы носят аутентичный характер и раскрывают содержание языковой подготовки по специальности Статистика, анализ данных и демография, не затрагивая общие темы, свойственные специальности Экономика. В основу пособия были положены материалы из различных источников: учебники таких признанных в области статистики авторов, как Эндрю Сигел (Endrew Siegel) и Аллан Блуман (Allan Bluman), популярных зарубежных и отечественных печатных периодических изданий – «the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics», «the Review of Economics and Statistics», «Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics», «Вопросы статистики», электронных ресурсов, а также авторские материалы разработчиков данного пособия.
Учебное пособие построено по тематическому принципу, где каждый раздел включает два темообразующих текста, сопровождаемых списком активной лексики, встречающейся в текстах, а также разнообразные задания на отработку лексических и грамматических навыков, а также навыков чтения, аудирования и письма. Помимо этого, в каждом разделе содержится материал для самостоятельной работы, а также секция под названием Review, в которой в тестовой форме осуществляется проверка полученного знания. Задания для самостоятельной работы представляют собой анализ параллельных текстов, а также работу с корпусом академического английского языка.
В конце четвертого и восьмого разделов размещен проверочный материал под названием Check your progress (Промежуточный контроль), который был разработаны для целей самопроверки и актуализации знания, полученного в ходе изучения материалов пособия. Также структурными компонентами пособия являются разделы: Discussion (Дискуссия) и Glossary (Словарь терминов). В разделе Discussion представлены материалы, которые могут быть использованы как для групповых, так и парных видов аудиторной работы, направленных на формирование навыков устной речи и ведения дискуссии. В разделе Glossary собраны все термины, встречающиеся в темообразующих текстах, и представляющие собой терминологическую номенклатуру специальности Статистика, анализ данных и демография.
Данное пособие имеет электронное сопровождение в виде Банка лексических и грамматических тестовых заданий (Grammar and Vocabulary Accelerator, номер в системе 10153), размещенного в информационно-образовательной среде LMS НИУ ВШЭ. В каждом разделе присутствует ссылка на данный электронный ресурс, с указанием темы, содержащей в себе как теоретический, так и практический материал для отработки грамматических навыков.
