В первую очередь, вы знакомите нас слушателей, какую книгу вы прочитали и кто ее автор, потом коротко излагаете  основную идею и в чем заключался смысл всего произведения - в одно предложение.

The story written by Marion St. John Webb is about a trip of two small children Molly and Jack to the “Possible” country from their “Impossible” world.

Потом вы переходит во второй абзац, где так же кратко расскажете "Plot" истории, то есть сюжетную линию. Здесь следует начать с описания главных героев, где они находятся, и что они делают - очень кратко! (представьте, что вы посмотрели фильм и надо рассказать другу - так и здесь!)

At the beginning of the story the readers meet the twins, who got presents from parents and relatives. So, both had bicycles and Molly was desperately disappointed when, instead of the longed for silver bangle, her aunt Phoebe had sent her a small, grey pumpkin-shaped pincushion for her birthday. But at night, when the full moon was shining, the pumpkin turned out to be a magic one........

Summary

A piece of science fiction “The fun they had” by a professor of biochemistry and science writer I. Asimov is about school of future times.

At the beginning at the story the readers meet two children Margie and Tommy by names who live in the year of 2157 which is the age of computer machines.

According to the plot though children did not go to school to study with a regular teacher, they had their own schoolroom with a mechanical teacher at home, but they did not like it very much.

As the story goes, Margie and Tommy found a real book in the attic, the pages of which were yellow and crinkly. That book was about the old kind of school that they used to have hundreds years before. The most striking fact about it was that children had been taught by a man instead of a machine. Moreover, all the kids from the whole neighborhood sat together in the schoolroom, played games in the schoolyard and went home together at the end of the day. Margie and Tommy were surprised that children learned the same things, so they could help one another on the homework and talk about it.

To sum it up, Asimov emphasized how the kids must have loved it in the old days.
