Задачи урока:
Обобщить и закрепить основные знания, умения и навыки уч-ся по теме Расширить знания уч-ся по данной теме Продолжить развитие интереса у уч-ся к изучаемому языку Воспитывать гражданско-патриотическое отношение к России – крупнейшей стране мира Формировать значимость изучения английского языка, как языка международного общения Закрепить фонетическую грамотность уч-ся Продолжить обучение уч-ся разговорным формулам – клише Продолжить развитие способностей уч-ся использовать английский язык как инструмент общения на межкультурном уровне в устной и письменной форме, в «диалогах культур»Оборудование: компьютер, проектор, презентация в Prezi, карточки с названиями стран

- Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to our regular meeting of the Organization of the United Nations. Today we shall discuss the problems which deal with the planet we live on, the continents, countries and nationalities. Today we have the representatives from different countries.

- Though we’ve known each other for a long time, let us introduce ourselves. Please, name your name, country, nationality and your native language.

- Well, we shall discuss your countries a little bit later. To begin with let’s talk about our planet and the bodies which are situated on it.

- This continent is washed by the Pacific Ocean in the east, the Atlantic in the west, the Arctic Ocean in the North, the Indian Ocean in the South. It is the biggest in the world. The Urals separate it on two parts. What’s its name? (Europe and Asia is) This continent was discovered by Columbus but he didn’t know about it. (North America) This continent is the smallest. Some scientists call it “big island”. (Australia) This continent is the hottest in the world, is famous for its ancient civilization. (Africa) This continent is washed by the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. The biggest river is Amazon. (South America) This continent is situated in the most south point of the Earth, is washed by the South Ocean, is covered by ice. (Antarctica) So, how many continents are there in the world? (six)

Australia is the smallest continent in the world but it is one of the largest countries on Earth. It covers an area of 7,614,500 km2 and lies between the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
Greenland lies in the North Atlantic Ocean and it is the largest island. It has an area of around 2, 175,600 km2.
Mountain Everest or “Goddess Mother of the World” is the highest mountain in the world. It is actually 8,850 m high and is in Tibet. It was named after Sir George Everest, the British surveyor.
The largest Ocean in the world is the Pacific Ocean. It has a total area of around 165,250,000 km2 and its average depth of 4,280m.
There is some disagreement about which river is the longest – the Amazon or the Nile – as it is hard to know where each river begins and where it ends. At the longest points the Amazon is about 6,400 km and the Nile is 6,650 km.
Lake Baikal in Russia is the world’s deepest lake. It is 1,741 m deep and holds about one-fifth of the world’s fresh water supply.
