  «Подготовка к написанию эссе  «Поэзия не нужна?»

I. Тема: Эссе “We do not need poetry”.

II. Практические задачи:

Тренировать учащихся в перефразировании цитат при подготовке к написанию эссе «Выражение личного мнения». Практиковать  учащихся в структурировании и организации текста при подготовке к написанию эссе «Выражение личного мнения». Мотивировать учащихся к устным высказываниям для выражения собственного мнения с целью написания эссе по теме “We do not need poetry”. Развивать  умения составить письменное высказывание с элементами рассуждения по теме “We do not need poetry”.

III. Воспитательные задачи:

Воспитывать у учащихся  интерес и положительное отношение к изучению культуры англоязычных стран, более глубокое осознание своей культуры. Формировать активную жизненную позицию как субъекта межкультурного взаимодействия, уважительное и  толерантное отношение к чужому мнению, к чужой культуре. Формировать потребности и способности понимать чужие точки зрения.  Формировать интерес к чтению и развитию кругозора.

IV. Развивающие задачи:

Развивать филологическое мышление при  лингвистическом наблюдении в отношении употребления слов и грамматических конструкций. Развивать память при составлении  тематических списка слов для использования в речевых ситуациях. Развивать способность к аргументированным высказываниям  для выражения личного мнения. Развивать способность отбирать значимую информацию  для решения коммуникативной задачи при написании эссе.

V. Образовательные задачи:

Способствовать использованию учащимися  языковых средств в ситуациях официального и неофициального характера.  Знакомить учащихся с культурным наследием страны изучаемого языка, а также с родной культурой с целью адаптации  в поликультурном обществе. Мотивировать учащихся к использованию необходимых языковых средств с целью представления  родной страны и культуры в иноязычной среде. Учить учащихся использовать формулы речевого этикета в рамках стандартных ситуаций общения.

Проблемное обучение. Решение коммуникативных задач: « Как стихотворение и картина  могут быть связаны с  темой урока?». «Почему люди любят стихи?». «Как можно объяснить афоризмы о поэзии?» . «Вы согласны, что поэзия—это  …?» «Что вы думаете по поводу высказывания о том, что людям не нужна поэзия?». «Как вы можете возразить своим оппонентам?»

IX. Универсальные учебные действия.

Учащиеся делятся впечатлениями о картине и стихотворении, слушают стихотворение, ищут сходство с одноименной картиной, затем высказывают предположения о том, как эти произведения  могут быть связаны с  темой урока. Учащиеся заполняют вопросник из Интернета “Why do people enjoy reading poetry?” и выражают свое мнение, являются ли они сами любителями поэзии. Учащиеся выбирают 3 вопроса из 8,  представленных на доске,  и  беседуют в парах по этим вопросам.  Учащиеся дают аргументированные высказывания, отвечая на вопросы; передают мнение собеседника. Учащиеся играют в «Свою игру» и готовят перефразирование при помощи толкования афоризмов о значении поэзии. Учащиеся играют в игру «Бинго» в режиме «работа в группе» и получают ответы на вопрос «Do you agree that poetry is …?» , формулируют  проблему для написания 1-го абзаца эссе. Учащиеся заполняют «Скелет рыбы»,  выражают собственное мнение, что такое «поэзия», приводят 2-3 аргументированных высказывания для написания 2-го абзаца эссе. Учащиеся  заполняют Интеллект-карту, при этом  формулируют противоположное мнение и приводят  контрдоводы для написания  3-го и 4-го абзаца эссе. Работают с интерактивной доской. Учащиеся структурируют эссе-образец и расставляют части по порядку. Работают с интерактивной доской. Учащиеся пишут синквейн «Поэзия—это…» для написания заключения. Учащиеся начинают писать 1 и 2 абзацы эссе. Учащиеся получают задание на дом продолжить написание эссе по плану и задают вопросы по домашнему заданию. Учащиеся используют речевые опоры, участвуют в  обсуждении, решают коммуникативные задачи, суммируют информацию, делают мини-презентации.

Что задано на дом перед этим уроком:

Прочитать блог американских детей с их рассуждением о поэзии и выразить свое собственное мнение 1-2 предложениями. Дать объяснение высказываниям известных людей в 3-5 предложениях на стр. 25 учебника.

Речевая зарядка. Прием «Удивляй!».

T. : Hello, everybody!  Well, let’s get down to work! As you know, we are keeping on practising how to write essays for the Russian State Exams. I hope today’s lesson will also inspire you to write an essay. On the topic you are going to guess yourselves.

OK, you’ll see a painting, which is a genuine masterpiece and you will hear a piece of poetry. Look at the board and say what impressions they make, why we have the picture and the poem today, how they are connected with the topic of the lesson.

T: Right. Perhaps, it was the piece of poetry that inspired the artist to create this masterpiece. And vice a versa, the view of St. Petersburg with its unbelievable atmosphere, unique churches and cathedrals, chimes and bells inspired the Irish poet Thomas Moor to create his “Those evening bells”.

It is popularly believed that people have always needed poetry. Are you among those who consider poetry a natural part of life? Or do you think poetry is useless for modern people? From my point of view, poetry still matters in our complicated times.

In my opinion, we need poetry since it makes life emotional and meaningful. First of all, verses stir imagination.  We notice unusual features in ordinary objects. We wake up to the world as if we see it for the first time and we watch long-tailed dragons and sailing ships in the sky. Secondly, poetry is a reflection of a life story that teaches us about human relations. It helps mould a personality developing our inner self.  Finally, poetry makes common words sound magic. We hear the music through rhymes and rhythms, and melody of the verse.

However, other people think poetry is nonsense and lies. A poet creates make-believe stories about the imaginary world. What is more, people have to read between lines to understand the author’s attitudes and ideas, which is irritating.

Nevertheless, even nonsensical limericks make sense and make us laugh. In addition, poets compose verses about real historic events. They share real feelings they themselves once experienced. Moreover, it’s so amazing to learn to understand people through poetry!

To sum up, poetry is integrated into our life. We read, listen to, and recite poetry throughout our life. As far as I’m concerned, poetry supports, encourages, and gives me valuable advice. I need poetry!  252

The sinquain is a special form of the poem, which consists of 5 lines.

one word title, a noun that tells what your poem is about two adjectives that describe what you're writing about three - ing participles that describe what your poem is about a phrase that tells more about what you're writing about a synonym for your title, another noun that  tells what your poem is about.

It is popularly believed that poetry is an essential part of life. Are you among those who claim that poetry is a waste of time? Or do you belong to the people who think that poetry does still matter? In my opinion, poetry plays an important role nowadays.

To my mind, poetry is important for the present generation. Firstly, poems are an excellent way for self-expression. Poems reflect the deepest feelings and tell people about your emotions. Secondly, poetry is a base of music. When we listen to songs we understand that it is a poem. Finally, poetry is informative. It reflects the atmosphere of the previous times. We learn about the past, the people’s ideas on the events.

Opponents of this view claim that poetry is useless in the modern world. People do not need poems because they do not have time. Besides, poetry stops being important as a means of communication. People who have the access to the Internet cope without the information from poems.

However, poetry is necessary for people. Poems are an order of words but strings are beautiful and expressive. People will understand an idea even better. Moreover, poetry will be always vital. It does not depend on technical developments.

In conclusion, poetry is a part of people’s lives in any period of time. Marvelous poems, expressive words make readers trust in the power of the world. Without poetry the life will be empty and grey. Emotional poems widen new horizons. Poetry does matter!

It is popularly believed that poetry still has relevance in society today. Are you among those who think that poetry is necessary in people’s life? Or do you belong to people who consider that poetry is a waste of time? In my opinion, people can not cope without poetry as poetry gives them an opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings.

From my point of view, poetry not only brightens the world, but also encourages people to express themselves. Firstly, poetry is a means of communication that helps people share their views and opinions with others. Secondly, poetry fills people with fresh and original ideas and, as a result, people become more creative and imaginative. Finally, poetry brings pleasure and delight to people and makes then notice the beauty around.

However opponents of this view claim that it is really hard for people to understand the poetry. Moreover, nowadays people have more practical ways of expressing their view and emotions like different blog posts and text-messages.

I would argue that poets make readers read between the lines and be really thoughtful to understand poetry. Furthermore, modern means of communication can not replace poetry as poetry is immortal and can relate to future generations.

In conclusion, though people have modern technologies to express their views and share opinions, but I still think that poetry inspires people, makes them creative, thoughtful, helps them develop their imagination, skills and talents.

There is no doubt that peoples attitude to poetry is quite different. Are you among those who consider poetry to be necessary for modern people? Or do you think that poetry is useless nowadays and it does not reflect the life? The way I see it, poetry is essential and it carries both knowledge and imagination.

Firstly, poetry is the truthful reflection of the world. Poets of different epochs vividly depict historic events such as famous wars and battles which took place in their times. Besides, their poems glorify eminent personalities which went down in history for their achievements. Moreover, the plots of many poems touch upon moral values of the humanity and the role they play in life. As a result, poetry presents the world in all its aspects.

Secondly, brings us admiration we lack nowadays. Reading poetry we get delighted with the authors ability to portray nature and human values in their richness and movement. What is more, poetry awakens all our feelings! Beautiful verses cause vivid associations with spectacular landscapes and provoke strong emotional experience.

Finally, poetry is the world of imagination. Trying to perceive the main idea of a poem, we base on the clues the author gives us what demands stretching an imagination. Additionally, when we ponder over the meaning of poems, we discover valuable thoughts that lay beneath the surface.

However, other people consider that poetry is just a waste of time. They consider that we can not apply in life information we get to know in poetry.  What is more, these people believe that poetry carries misunderstanding from the part of the author and the reader. Poetry does not express ideas clearly thus it is not available to everyone.

I disagree. In my opinion, reading poems broads our mind thus enables to keep conversations with intelligent people. Moreover, poetry does not aim to create exact understanding. It offers to follow the author’s train of thought which leads you to your own interpretation of the idea.

To conclude my reasoning, poetry is admirable. It presents real life truthfully and inspires us to turn a new look to ordinary things.

It is popularly believed that poetry is getting less important nowadays. Are you among those, who claim that poetry does not matter? Or do you belong to those, who consider the role of poetry to be underestimated? To my mind, poetry is the treasure house of feelings and thoughts, that is why poetry is still important for people’s self development.

From my point of view, poetry offers great opportunities for people to get pleasant emotions and thought-provoking material, as it is an amazing amusement for people of all ages. Besides, poetry is a great treasury of information about history of the world. Numerous of poems provide people with valuable material on historical events, outstanding personalities and people’s views.

However, the opponents claim, that poetry is misunderstanding, and it seems difficult to get the idea, the writer tried to reveal. What is more, they are sure, that poetry plays no role in people’s life, as it is useless and a complete waste of time that does no good.

Nevertheless, I think, poetry is a fantastic wonder, that every person understands in his own way. Poetry is different, that is why it appeals to people of different interests. Besides, poetry offers opportunities for self-development, teaching people to overcome difficulties and solve urgent problems.

In conclusion, people cannot do without poetry, as it is really important in today’s life. Poetry is necessary for people in getting to know more about the world as well as their own souls and feelings.
