Ход урока

1. Организационный момент и приветствие.

Teacher: Good morning, boys and girls! I’m glad to see you. Sit down, please.

2. Сообщение темы и целей урока.

Teacher: The theme of our lesson is “we are always there for our pets.”  What do you think? What are we going to do at the lesson today?

P1: We will read, listen and speak about dogs and their owners.

You are right. We shall learn the new words, the types of dogs. We will read the text about Betsy’s pets and speak about them, listen to the recording and revise the formation of affirmative and interrogative sentences in the Future Simple tense.

3. Речевая зарядка.

Teacher: First answer my questions, please.

Teacher: I see you like pets and they are really your friends. But what pets can be like? Name some words for their characteristics: kind, gentle, independent, sly, beautiful, strong, noisy, quiet, loving, naughty, friendly, unfriendly, clever, thick, big, small, funny.

4. Ознакомление с породами собак (работа со слайдами).

Teacher: Now I would like you to open your books at page 89 and find a rubric Friends.  Read and guess the meaning of the underlined words.

Well, there are many types of dogs: small and big, kind and angry. Some dogs have easy life: they play in the garden and sleep on the sofa. But some dogs have real jobs. They have special training and help people. Let me introduce some types of dogs. Look at the screen! But first let me tell you some words about the Queen of England and her dogs. Queen of England Elizabeth II loves dogs very much. Her favourite type of dogs is corgi.  At present, The Queen owns four Corgis: Linnet, Monty, Willow and Holly and three Dorgis: Cider, Candy and Vulcan. They are the members of her family.

And now answer my questions:

What type of dogs do you like? Why? What kind of dogs are hunters? What kind of dogs are guide dogs? What dogs can we see in the circus? Do they need special training?

Teacher:Listen to the children’s stories and fill in the table on your card. (Текст для аудирования делится на 3 части и каждая часть прослушивается отдельно. После прослушивания 2-3 мин. дается для заполнения таблицы). Are you ready? Put your cards into your files. I’ll check them later.

Let’s talk about your pets. I want you to make up short dialogues and ask your mates questions about their pets. Work in pairs.

- Do you have a pet?

- Yes, I do.

- What is its name?

- My dog’s name is Jack.

- What colour is your pet?

- It’s black and white.

- Can you describe it?

- Jack is little and black and white.  The dog has got a small nose, big green eyes and a nice tail.

- What type of dog is it?

- It’s a Labrador.

- Is it friendly /clever/kind?

- Yes, it is.

- Do you look after your dog?

- Yes, I do.

- Do you like to play with your pet?

- Yes, I do.

- What can your pet do?

- My pet can carry things, answer its name, give its paw.

- Do you feed your dog?

- Yes, I do.

- What kind of food does it like to eat?

- It likes to eat meat and fish.

- Do you spend much time with your pet?

- Yes, I do.

- Is it a member of your family?

- Yes it is.

Dialogue 2

- Do you have a cat at home?

- Yes, I do.

- What is your cat’s name?

- Its name is Murka.

- What type of cat is it?

- My cat is a Persian.

- Can you describe it?

- Murka is little and black. The cat has got a small nose, big green eyes and a nice tail.

- What does your pet like to do?

- Murka likes to sit under the table in the kitchen or to lie on the carpet in my room.

- Do you feed your cat?

- Yes, I do.

- What kind of food does it like to eat?

- It likes to eat milk and fish.

- Do you spend much time with your pet?

- Yes, I do.

7. Teacher: Развитие навыков чтения. (Поисковое чтение).

Проверка домашнего задания.

Teacher: Read the first part of the text “We Love Our Pets” on p. 87, ex. 2 to yourself, then answer the questions.

Is Blacky a cat or a dog? - He is a cat. Is Blacky or Wally a hooligan? – Blacky is a hooligan. Where does Blacky sleep? - He sleeps in the dog’s beds. Is Mother or Blacky a great hunter? – Mother is a great hunter. When does she hunt? - She hunts every night. What kind of cats is Wally? - He is nice and kind.

7. Развитие навыков монологической речи

Teacher: Now let’s check your homework. You were to speak about Betsy’s cats. Form 3 groups and retell your stories to each other. Then the best of you will speak in front of the class.

Teacher: Well done.

Teacher: Now read the second part of the text and answer my questions.

What type of dogs is Fourby? - She is half collie and half spaniel. Where does she come from? - She comes from a rescue home. What type of dogs is Henry? - He is a Labrador. Is he kind and clever? - Yes he is. Is his life easy? - Yes, it is.

T: Good of you, children, you’ve coped with the task very well. And your home task will be to speak about Betsey’s dogs.

8. Развитие языковой догадки. The next task is on the screen and on your sheets of plete the task. Fill in the gaps with these words.

9. Развитие грамматических навыков. Now I want you to revise The Future Simple Tense. When do we use it?

(Ребята рассказывают об этой временной форме, называют ключевые слова.)

Teacher: Now let’s revise the word order in affirmative and interrogative sentences and complete the exercise on computers. The computers are not enough, that’s why some of you will do it on sheets of paper.

Teacher:As you see, animals and birds are our best friends and they need our help, love and care. They are our real friends. And we are always there for them.
