Ход урока

1. Организационный момент и приветствие.

Teacher: Good morning, boys and girls! I’m glad to see you. Sit down, please.

2. Сообщение темы и целей урока.

Teacher: The theme of our lesson is “we are always there for our pets.”  What do you think? What are we going to do at the lesson today?

P1: We will read, listen and speak about dogs and their owners.

You are right. We shall learn the new words, the types of dogs. We will read the text about Betsy’s pets and speak about them, listen to the recording and revise the formation of affirmative and interrogative sentences in the Future Simple tense.

Teacher: I see you like pets and they are really your friends. But what pets can be like? Name some words for their characteristics: kind, gentle, independent, sly, beautiful, strong, noisy, quiet, loving, naughty, friendly, unfriendly, clever, thick, big, small, funny.

Teacher: Now I would like you to open your books at page 89 and find a rubric Friends.  Read and guess the meaning of the underlined words.

Well, there are many types of dogs: small and big, kind and angry. Some dogs have easy life: they play in the garden and sleep on the sofa. But some dogs have real jobs. They have special training and help people. Let me introduce some types of dogs. Look at the screen! But first let me tell you some words about the Queen of England and her dogs. Queen of England Elizabeth II loves dogs very much. Her favourite type of dogs is corgi.  At present, The Queen owns four Corgis: Linnet, Monty, Willow and Holly and three Dorgis: Cider, Candy and Vulcan. They are the members of her family.

And now answer my questions:

    What type of dogs do you like? Why? What kind of dogs are hunters? What kind of dogs are guide dogs? What dogs can we see in the circus? Do they need special training?

- It likes to eat milk and fish.

7. Teacher: Развитие навыков чтения. (Поисковое чтение).

Teacher: Read the first part of the text “We Love Our Pets” on p. 87, ex. 2 to yourself, then answer the questions.

Is Blacky a cat or a dog? - He is a cat. Is Blacky or Wally a hooligan? – Blacky is a hooligan. Where does Blacky sleep? - He sleeps in the dog’s beds. Is Mother or Blacky a great hunter? – Mother is a great hunter. When does she hunt? - She hunts every night. What kind of cats is Wally? - He is nice and kind.

Teacher: Now let’s check your homework. You were to speak about Betsy’s cats. Form 3 groups and retell your stories to each other. Then the best of you will speak in front of the class.
