1 ПОЯСНИТЕЛЬНАЯ ЗАПИСКА
1.1 Цель изучения дисциплины
Целью данного курса является формирование социально-личностных, общих профессиональных, социолингвистических, прагматических и специальных компетенций, формирование и закрепление знаний по вопросам германской филологии.
1.2 Задачи изучения дисциплины
Основная задача изучения дисциплины – формирование целостного представления о германистике как науке о германских языках и литературе, изучение этапов формирования и развития германских языков, их специфических и общих черт, включая вопросы письменности, литературы и культуры.
1.3 Компетенции (результаты обучения)
В результате изучения дисциплины студент должен:
знать:
- понятия «Germanic languages, Proto-Germanic language, Proto-Indo-European language»;
- этапы развития английского языка от древнего до современного, их отличительные особенности;
- этапы развития немецкого языка, его исторические особенности, литературные памятники;
уметь:
- дать характеристику всем основным языкам германской группы;
- представить их отличительные черты в области грамматики, синтаксиса, лексического состава;
- дать характеристику культурных особенностей и литературных памятников германских языков.
2 ВВЕДЕНИЕ
Учебно-методический комплекс предназначен для студентов 4 курса факультета иностранной и русской филологии. Учебно-методический комплекс построен с учётом требований, изложенных в действующем каталоге элективных дисциплин по курсу «Германистика II». Этот учебно-методический комплекс рассчитан на 45 часов практических занятий по изучению дисциплины. Германистика (лат. germanus «германский») или германская филология - область индоевропейской филологии, изучающая германские языки и литературы, а также фольклор и культуру германских народов Старого и Нового света. Германистика — это также раздел частного языкознания, занимающийся изучением языков и культуры германоязычных народов и, в частности, изучением немецкого языка во всех его проявлениях. Современная германистика в значительной степени сфокусирована на изучении английского языка, который также относится к германским. Учёные, специально занимающиеся этим направлением, называются германистами. Как и романистика, германистика возникла ещё в Средние века, преимущественно как некая смежная гуманитарная дисциплина. Однако, долгое время всё внимание лингвистов Европы было приковано к романистике, трактующей отношения между классической латынью и романскими языками. Интерес к романистике усилился в XII-XIII веках и особенно возрос после появления поэзии трубадуров, использовавших для записи песен провансальский язык. Германские языки в этот период практически не изучаются. Как наука германистика появилась лишь в XVI-XVII веках, когда у германских народов проснулся интерес друг к другу и политико-экономический центр Европы сместился из Средиземноморья на север. Германистика представляет собой несколько иную дисциплину, чем романистика, поскольку германские языки, в отличие от романских, не имели чётко зафиксированного общего предка, ведь прагерманский язык, в отличие от латыни, не был письменным. Германистика в этом плане схожа со славистикой.

Choose one of the topics below, prepare a presentation revealing the topic (the necessary minimum is 10 slides). Be ready to show your presentation in class. The topics for independent work are quite wide, so your aim is to make a precise and brief overview of the chosen theme. You must organize your presentation properly. DO NOT include pure text in your presentation. You may use tables, schemes, diagrams, charts, pictures, photographs, video materials and any aids to share them with your group mates. DO NOT read the text. Be ready to present your topic speaking and discussing it freely. If your presentation contains a lot of dates or names, you may write them down on a paper sheet and have a look at it during your speech.
The topics to reveal deal with the old and medieval periods in the history of English literature. The topics are determined by the aims of this discipline studying. German studies, first of all, researches, documents, and disseminates German languages and literature in both historic and present forms. The English language is definitely the most wide-spread language in German group. That is why precise and accurate analysis of English literature development is so important in this course. Note that some of the given topics might have already been discussed in the course of other subjects, including English literature. Preparation of the independent works in this course gives you a chance to systemize and refresh your knowledge as well as discover some new aspects that you have not paid your attention to before.
Please, follow the instructions given in the first paragraph if you are interested in getting good grades. If your presentation does not meet the requirements or if you do not present it properly in class, your grade will be low.
