Unit Statement: In this unit the student will learn the alphabet and will be define the practical significance of the alphabet; recognize the consonants and vowels, to be able to designate in writing vowels letters. The students be able correctly write words with жи, ши, ча, ща, чу, щу ; to introduce the soft and hard, voiced and voiceless sounds

Essential Outcomes: (must be assessed for mastery)

1. TSW write exercises using letters of Russian alphabet

2. TSW recognize the consonants and vowels

3. TSW designate in writing vowels letters

4. TSW write words with жи, ши, ча, ща, чу, щу

5. TSW write and read words and identifying soft and hard, voiced and voiceless consonants

1. TSW read given text aloud, using words (not only syllables)

2. TSW practice writing words with double consonants and unpronounceable consonants in a root of words
