We welcome you to the song contest that is held in our school annually.

Today we’re recollecting hits released at the beginning of the 21st century.

We will begin with the British rock-band consisting of 4 people. We’re going to hear one of their most famous songs “Yellow” that in 2000 reached the top of both British and American pop charts and brought the mainstream success to the band. The song will be performed by the students of the form 11 “С”

The following song to be performed is the composition by the representatives of the American rock scene, the band “Linkin Park” that received the prestigious music award “Grammy” more than once.

The students of the form 10 “A” are going on stage with the song “Numb”.

The band “Linkin Park” has turned out to be very popular among the pupils of our school. Another class has also decided to perform the song by the band. Welcome the students of the form 11 „C“ withLinkin Park’s „New Divide“.

The rock strip is going on. The following representative of the American rock scene is the American metal band “Slipknot”. The students from the form 11 “C” will perform their song “Snuff”.

At the beginning of the 21st century pop-music was also very popular. One of the brightest pop-performers is the Canadian singer, Grammy-holder, Nelly Furtado. Her song “Waiting for the Night” will be performed by the students of the form 10 “B”.

It has turned out that in school 14 there is a band which is even more popular than Linkin Park. They are the American pop-rock band “Maroon 5”. Their breakthrough song is “This Love”. Exactly this composition will be sung by the representatives of the form 8 “A”.

The following class is going to perform 2 songs by Maroon 5 at once. They are “Wake Up Call” and “Moves Like Jagger” performed by the students of the form 9 “A”.

We’re preceding our contest with one of the most famous compositions by British rock-band “Blur”. The band is considered to be the popularizer of Britpop. Now we’re going to hear “Song 2” that brought them success in America. Welcome the students of the form 11 “C”.

The next number of the concert is the Romanian group “Morandi”, which was founded in 2005 and gained popularity in Europe very quickly. This group was three times rewarded with MTV Music Awards (2005) for their hit “Angels” in the nomination “Best Song”, “Best New Singer” and “Best Dance”. And now we are going to see the performance of the 11th form “B” with the song  “Angels”.

Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, known by her stage name Lana Del Rey, is an American singer-songwriter who in 2012 won  a BRIT Award for "International Breakthrough Act". One of her best-known songs is “Young and Beautiful” that will be performed by the form 8 “A”.

Blue eyes and bright individuality are the features that characterize the American pop-singer Pink. According to the Billboard Rating Pink is best female singer during the period since 2000 to 2010. In general, she received 2 Grammy Awards, 5 «MTV Music Awards» and 2 «Brit Awards». Enjoy the performance of the form 11 “A” with Pink’s song “Family Portrait”.

The songs by this performer are listened to all over the world. Lady Gaga is one of the most startling singers of the decade. She has innumerous awards among which there are 5 Grammy Awards, 13 MTV Video Music Awards and 8 MTV Europe Music Awards. She is ranked 4th in the list of 100 greatest women in the music industry. “Time” also called her one of the most influential people in the world. Lady Gaga’s famous “Bad Romance” will be performed by the students of the form 11 “A”.

Our song contest has come to the end. Today we’ve enjoyed a number of bright and impressive performances. All the students have proved that they have not only vocal, but also dancing and acting talent. Now it’s high time to announce the results of our competition.
