При переводе названий госорганов широко применяются переводы по аналогу. С языка на русский подыскиваются аналоги среди похожих названий в русско-язычной среде и наоборот, русские названия подвёрстываются под англо-язычные, типично под американские. Так, например Министерством иностранных дел можно перевести и Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Ministry of Foreign Relations/Foreign Office/Ministry of External relations/Ministry of the Exterior. Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Defense and Security/Ministry of National Defense – это всё Министерство обороны. Есть даже ряд типологических сокращений MFA, MoD, MoE, MoH, MoI и т. д.
