Сценарий мероприятия:
Author Г. Ladies and Gentlemen! Today we have many guests. Your teachers and friends have come to see our performance. And now we are going present to you a story about a lazy student. Thank to his absen-mindedness, we will find ourselves in the imaginary world where some of the main characters of English books are mixed up. We hope you’ll enjoy our show!
Author2: Let me introduce our actors:
Alex | as Lazy Student |
Artem | as Romeo |
Veronica | as Flower Girl Liza |
Arcen | as Othello |
William | as Robinson Crusoe |
Anthony | as Hamlet |
Demitry | as Mephistopheles |
Sergey | as Sherlock Holmes |
The stage is set with three chairs that stand in line to the left side, and a bench with a pillow that stands in front of the stage. Posters with the names of the books can be stuck to the curtain or walls. |
Act 1
(Curtain opens. The Lazy Student, dressed in pijamas, slippers and a nightcap, is reading various books; some of them are next to him.)
Student:
Oh, teachers, isn’t it annoying To read books?
They are so boring!!!
Songs, novels - everything’s in English;
It’s difficult just to distinguish.)
I pass exams... tomorrow... in the morning...
I can’t remember - it’s so boring!
Who is that Hamlet?
He’s a friend of Desdemona...
His neighbor’s Dr. Watson...
He’s a German...
Well, that’s enough,
Some minutes for a sleep
Or I’ll begin to sob or weep.
Come in, my sweetest dreams!!!
(Student falls asleep on the bench. Curtain.)
Act 2
(Curtain opens, Juliet stands behind the chairs. She can be dressed in a beautiful long dress. Romeo stands below, e. g. near the stage. He wears a white shirt, a cloak, black trousers and boots.)
Juliet:
O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo?
Deny thy father and refuse thy name;
Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
And I’ll no longer be a Capulet.
Romeo: {aside)
Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this?
Juliet:
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What’s a Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What’s in a name? that which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call’d,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
And for that name which is no part of thee Take all myself.
Romeo:
0 take thee at thy word:
Call me but love, and I’ll be new baptized;
Henceforth I never will be Romeo.
(Flower Girl appears on the stage. She is not attractive, looks silly, can wear a hat, a black coat, a brown skirt with an apron and has a basket of flowers in her hand. She appears singing songs.)
Flower Girl: (comes to Romeo)
Oh, do buy a flower off me, Captain. I can change half-a-crown. Take this for tuppence. Thank you, sir.
(Romeo buys flowers and throws them to Juliet. Romeo and Juliet leave the
stage. Flower Girl sits on the bench sorting her flowers. There is an awful scream offstage “Desdemona!!! ” Othello appears onstage, angry, dressed in a white shirt, black trousers and a cloak.)
Othello: {runs to Flower Girl, shouting...)
Have you prayed tonight, Desdemona?!!
(Othello strangles Flower Girl, so that she can 7 react. Then Othello is going to leave the stage but he meets Robinson Crusoe at the exit. Robinson Crusoe, bearded, barefooted, wears a fur-vest, old and short trousers.)
Robinson Crusoe: (thinking that Othello is Friday, embraces him and speaks to the audience, Othello shows him that he is not Friday and tries to interrupt him)
I understood him in many things, and let him know I was very well pleased with him. In a little time I began to speak to him, and teach him to speak to me; and, first, I made him know his name should be Friday, which was the day I saved his life...
(They go along the stage as if talking to each other, they sit at the edge of the stage not far from the sleeping Student. Hamlet appears onstage, thoughtful, dressed in a beret, a white shirt, a black cloak and trousers.)
Hamlet: {doesn't mention anyone onstage)-.
To be or not to be, that’s the question: Whether ’tis nobler in the mind, To suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing end them? To die - to sleep; no more.
(He comes to the chairs where the strangled Flower Girl is. While Hamlet says his words, Sherlock Holmes creeps in; kneeling with a magnifying glass. Mephistopheles promptly rushes onstage, stepping loudly. His clothes are black, his face is white and lips blue.)
Mephistopheles:(angrily)
Ihr habt mich weidlich schwitzen machen.
(‘Ну, вы меня запарили, однако!" - Пер. )
Hamlet:
Sorry???
Mephistopheles '.(loudly, with the German accent)
I’m fed up with you... Du bist...you are so boring!!!
Hamlet:
What is your name?
Mephistopheles: (with pride)
My name is Mephistopheles!
(All the characters are in the middle of the stage. The Lazy Student is still sleeping.)
Sherlock Holmes (stands up):
My dear sirs, you know, that we were mixed,
Because this student doesn’t like to read.
We are right now in his dreams...
It isn’t easy as it seems
For Sherlock Holmes to solve this case,
But we will find a proper place For Flower Girl. It is your book...
Romeo, Juliet come and look:
Your book was written by Shakespeare.
I wish you happiness, my dear!
Othello, Hamlet, follow lovers And give the readers happy hours.
Oh, Mr. Crusoe lost his island!
I hope this book will help to find it...
Mephisto, your book is not here,
So hurry up and disappear...
You see, I play the violin and never use the rhyme.
We rushed into your dreams, it is a sign!
(All the characters and Lazy Student sing a song, to the tune of the popular song “My Bonny is Over the Ocean”.)
My books are just standing on bookshelves That I’m always happy to read.
My favourite’s under my pillow.
The English book is what I need.
Chorus:
Read books, read books,
They were invented to read, to read.
Read books, read books,
English books is what you need.
The book that was written in English Improves your knowledge as well.
It teaches you lexics and grammar And how the English words spell.
