In 1607 white people from England came to the Indian land, on the American continent. Pocahontas saved the life of an Englishman in the forest. After this she visited the English settlement and they became friends.

When Pocahontas was 17, she fell in love with an Englishman John Rolfe by name. She became a Christian and married him. They had a son and it was a happy family.

Princess Pocahontas is remembered in America as a symbol of friendship between the white people and the American Indians.

3) Интерактивная часть урока. Творческое задание интегрированное с занятиями по технологии ручного труда. Изготовление из бумаги куклы Покахонтас в национальном индейском костюме.

Технология изготовления игрушки:

1.  Из белой бумаги вырезать окружность 11 см., разделить ее на 4 равные части.

2.  Взять ¼ часть круга, свернуть в конус, склеить по краю, окрасить в бежевый цвет.

3.  Окрасить фрагмент листа в красно-коричневый цвет. Просушить, вырезать из него лицо и руки принцессы (по шаблону).

4.  Окрасить полоску бумаги 11х4 см. в черный цвет. Просушить, нарезать на полоски, не доходя до края, сплести в косы, закрепить клеем по краю.

5.  С помощью ножниц сделать бахрому по краю главного конуса. Вырезать полукруги с бахромой по бокам конуса. Сформировать из них воротник.

6.  Вырезать полоску толщиной 4 мм., окрасить в красный цвет, приклеить на верхний край перо.

7.  Склеить все детали игрушки: косы, руки, лицо, воротник, повязку с пером. Нанести декоративные полоски по краю конуса и воротника. Нарисовать лицо гелевой ручкой. Изделие выполнено за 1ч.30мин.

Dreamcatchers

For the Native Americans, the dream catcher is a handmade object based on a willow hoop with a web made of threads. The dreamcatcher is then decorated with beautiful things such as feathers and beads. Hung above the bed, protects the sleeping child from bad dreams.

Dreamcatchers originated from the Native American traditional arts. Some consider the dreamcatcher a symbol of unity among the various Indian Nations, and a general symbol of identification with Native American or First Nations cultures.

One Indian tribe has an ancient legend about the origin of the dreamcatcher. Storytellers speak of the Spider Woman. She took care of the children and the people on the land. So the mothers and grandmothers used to weave magical webs for the children, from willow hoops and bird’s feathers. The dreamcatchers filter out all bad dreams and only allow good thoughts to enter our mind. Once the sun rises, all bad dreams just disappear.

The shape of the dreamcatcher is a circle because it symbolizes the sun and the moon.

Magic Quilt

A quilt is a type of blanket, traditionally composed of three layers of fiber, combined using the technique of quilting.

There are many traditions regarding the design and characteristics of quilts, and they may be made to mark important life events such as marriage, the birth of a child. Modern quilts are not always intended for use as bedding, and may be used as decorations.

Quilting techniques. Quilting traditions are particularly prominent in the United States. Mothers in poor families made blankets for their children from different small pieces of clothes. They try to make them as beautiful as possible. Imported fabric was very expensive, and local “homespun” fabric was labor-intensive to create and tended to wear out sooner than commercial fabric. Small pieces of cloth were joined together, to make larger pieces.
