I. Reading

1).Read the text. Explain the words in bold.

With its endless bazaars, markets, shops and stalls, Kazan is a souvenir hunter’s paradise. If you want to spend your money reasonably, silver jewellery, wooden boxes and tableware, national caps (tyubeteyka) and headscarves, CDs with Koran recordings and ceremonial items, leather shoes and boots with Tatar ornament, chak-chak can be worth investing in.

You can find souvenirs to any taste in the shop “Kazan souvenir” in Kremlyovskaya street. You can buy beads, shamail or souvenir Koran in the Kremlin souvenir stores or in souvenir shops in Kazan mosques.
In “Bogema” store in Moskovskaya Street you can find various things made by Kazan craftsmen. Leather shoes and boots with Tatar ornament can be a wonderful present on a special occasion.
There is a department of national costumes in Suyumbika” shop in Kremlyovskaya Street. And also there are amazing figures of Tatar fairy tale characters.
Haute couturier national costumes can be found in the «Ebivol» gallery in Parizhskaya Kommuna Street. There one can buy various antique such as spinning looms, samovars, accordions.
There is a wonderful “Kukmorskiye valenki (Kukmor felt boots)” shop in Moskovskaya Street. Felt boots are made of natural combed washed sheep wool. In “Kukmorskiye valenki” shop you can buy national turned felt boots with elegant prints and even with your name embroidered on the top.
