Leader: One of our boys, he plays the piano very well, was interested in the history of the piano. Listen to him, please.

Boy: this pleasant musical instrument was first built by the famous scientist of Greece Pythagor. This instrument had got only one string. It was called as «odnostrun». Pythagor was interested in the nature of sounds. He divided the string into eight parts and listened to the pitch (высота) of the sounds. He put the sounds according to their pitch. So he had got so called scale (звукоряд). Then one of the Italian monks, Gvido Aretinski by name, (he was a teacher of music) wrote into signs these sounds and called them as notes «do», «re», «mi», «fa» and so on.

Leader: Every team gets a toy-piano. Every team will try to do its best in composing Hit. And we are ready to see a part of a play about Motzart and Salieri.

S.: Why are you so sad today?

M.: Am I? Oh, no!

S.: What happened? What is wrong? The dinner is perfect today. And the wine is sweet. But you are not satisfied with it. You are too gloomy.

M.: Frankly speaking my Requiem troubles me.

S.: Oh, you are composing Requiem! When did you begin to do it?

M.: I began it three weeks ago. But there was a very strange accident. Haven't you heard about it recently?

S.: No, I have heard nothing.

M.: So, listen to it. Three weeks ago I came home late. And I was told that somebody asked about me. I don't know why but I thought and thought about that man. One day I played with my son. A man in black came to me. He asked me to compose the Requiem for him. And he quickly went away. My Requiem is ready to be performed. But that stranger doesn't come to me. I don't know why but I am happy.

S.: But I see that you are not happy. You are too sad and gloomy to be happy. Will you tell me why?

M.: It seems to me that that strange man follows me everywhere. It seems to me that he is right here now. He is the third together with us. But listen! Can you hear the sounds of my Requiem?

They listen to a short part of Requiem.

Leader: As we know Salieri put some poison into Motzart's glass. And the great Motzart died.

Another great composer Bethoveen devoted his musical masterpiece to the girl he loved very much. It was Guliett Gvichchardi. This masterpiece is «Moon Sonata». G. Didn't love the composer. And Bethoveen was alone all his life. Who is he devoted his life to, to music or to his girl? We don't know it. But we know that his masterpiece is loved by everyone.

Leader: There is a broad variety of music in the world. And it is naturally that we can choose something according to our tastes, views, feelings and spirit. We can see that some of us are keen on classical music. And they are going to connect their life with this serious music. The elder generation admires blues, jazz and opera. This kind of music, as they say, is full of sense and warmth. And what is about the young generation of our time?

Pupil 1: As for the young generation most of us are fond of disco, rock and rap. Sometimes our parents say that we are not serious persons, and our music is not serious as well.

Pupil 2: We can hear it almost every day. But we are young. We like loud sounds. We like motion. We like to express ourselves in such a kind of music. Why is it wrong if we don't trouble anybody?

Pupil 3: Besides it we can really appreciate the real masterpieces of music. I mean such famous persons as Michael Jackson and «The Beetles». As for me I am keen on the songs of «Then Beetles», especially their songs about love. For example, I like very much their song «And I love her». I can play the guitar a little. And here are the cards with the texts. Let us sing this song together.

Pupil 3: As you can see our generation is fond of the songs that are full of tenderness and warm love. We are not such absent-minded as adults think about us. And I am sure that when we are getting older we'll change our tastes and songs. Well, let us now to live in our age and our dreams and songs.

Leader: I am sure that adults can understand us. They were young themselves. And their tastes were according that time. May be their parents were not satisfied with their music too.

Pupil 4: I asked my granny about it. The story was rather interesting. In the years of her youth she was a fan of the music their parents hated. So the history of children and their parents' relations is repeated from time to time. She was keen on jazz. It was music of freedom. Not all people could understand it and take. It was something new and incomprehensible (непонятный).

Leader: In all times from its first sounds music influenced our hearts and souls. Why do we like music? Music, after all, is nothing more than a sequence of sound waves. What is it that allows a sequence of sound waves to touch us so deeply?

Pupil 5: You see, a part of the answer lies in the physics of the sound waves. There are a lot of theories about it. But they only tell us how music works, but not why it touches us so deeply. It seems to me that the power of music is not in the sounds but in ourselves. Anyway (так или иначе) the most of my classmates and friends play musical instruments or sing. Some of them can listen to the music from morning till night. And a lot of us are getting better thanks to music.

Leader: Dear friends how do you consider my idea to organize a performance next Saturday?

Pupils: That's a good idea. We are ready to take part in it. And now let us sing something nice.

If you like to be happy, so be happy!

Leader 1: Good afternoon, dear friends! Glad to see you. I hope you are ready to discuss one of the most important questions of your life. The question is «Are you happy?»

Leader 2: Hello, Mary. Hello, dear friends. I don't know about you. But as for me, I ask myself this question from time to time. Am I happy? And what does it mean to be happy?

Leader 1: If we can't answer this question, let us ask our young friends. I think they can help us to understand everything about happiness. Well Polly, what does it mean to be happy? And are you happy?

Polly: Thank you for the questions. And I'd like to say that I am happy.

Leader 1: Have you got any formula of happiness? Can you share it with us if you have? Polly: My recipe is quite simple. Love yourself!

Leader 1: Do you think it is easy to do it? First of all, you know that a lot of people are not satisfied with the way they look.

Polly: That's true. Because most of us are not the models we see on TV or in magazines. Everybody must remember that he or she is unique. I often say to myself: I am I. Remember that you are you and nobody else.

Leader 1: But how to begin thinking of it? We need something to overcome our bad thing about ourselves. What can help us in it? Who know how to do it?

Olga: There is an easy way to do it: to believe in yourself. If you don't, how can you expect others to?

Leader 1: But something must be done for this believing.

Nelly: That's what I have done for it. First of all I'd like to say that in my future I am going to be a dress designer, to work out new fashion and comfortable clothes for young people. I'm sure it will help a lot of them to feel more confident and positive in the modern world.

Leader 1: By the way, besides fashion I've heard something about the magic power of colour.

Nelly: Oh, yes, we have to learn the power of colour. It will help us to choose the right colour to our face, hair, eyes and figure. And all together can give you the feeling of satisfaction. It will help you to believe in yourself.

Leader 1: Do you know anything about the magic of colour?

Nelly: If you are a calm person, red will give you energy. If you are sad, orange will make you more optimistic. Blue will give you a calming feeling. If you are shy, wear turquoise (бирюзовый). It makes a person more confident and less shy.

Leader 1: Thank you for such interesting and useful information. Have you any dresses to show us?

Nelly: I'll do it with great pleasure. Some of my classmates are ready to appear on the stage. Look! That is what we have done together.

Some of her friends demonstrate the dresses. Nelly comments and answers the pupils' questions.

Leader 2: Thank you ever so much. I'm sure some of us are ready to wear the same clothes to feel more confident and happy. But isn't it enough for happiness?

Alex: I think, it is necessary to believe in your dreams. Believe that your dreams will come true. I am sure that is the main first step on the happy road.

Leader 2: As for me, I think it's not enough only to believe in your dreams. You have to do something so that your dreams will come true.

Alex: Certainly, you should do a lot of. And if you are busy, if you don't waste your time, you haven't got much of it to think about different nonsense.

Leader 2: What do you mean speaking about nonsense? Is the question how to be happy nonsense?

Alex: Certainly not. The question is very important to everybody. But as for me, I am happy while working and thinking that thanks to my work my dreams are coming nearer to me.

Leader 2: Have you already done anything real for it?

Alex: Yes, I have done something. And I am proud of it.

Leader 2: Are you going to tell us about your achievements?

Alex: I am going to be an architect. And as my father says, it is very useful to begin my dream with a nail and hammer.

Leader 2: What does it mean? We'd like to know it.

Alex: Last summer my father and me spent a lot of time building our village cottage. Now I have got a great experience not only in making projects, but in real work as well. Now, look at these pictures, please. It is our new cottage. It is not large but it's very comfortable. It is one-storied building with a large kitchen and a pantry. There is a small garden near the house. This is a kingdom of my Mother's flowers.

Leader 2: And who are there under the tree?

Alex: My dad and me. It's an early summer morning. We do exercises.

Leader 2: Oh, exercises! I suggest everybody to exercise. But I know that not everybody used to exercise.

Alex: If they are not there is a piece of advice for them: 1. If you have to walk, walk faster; 2. Walk short distances instead of taking a bus or a taxi; 3. use the stairs instead of a lift.

Mike: You see, I am fond of sports. And I feel myself really happy while doing it. It's really worth the time and effort it takes. Concerning exercise it's fun! It helps your muscles to be stronger. Going in for sports is a good way of meeting people and making friends. Friends play an important part in our life. Friends are those people who can lift your mood. I think everybody has got something unpleasant in one's character. Somebody likes our features of character, some of them don't. And only our real friends accept us for what we are. And it is great when you have got with your friend much in common. We go in for sports and like hiking.

Leader 2: Besides, sports can help you to get rid of bad habits. For example: to give up smoking. That will make us healthier, so happier.

Dasha: I agree, to smoke or not to smoke is one of the very difficult questions for young generation. When you lose your health because of smoking, you can't feel yourself happy. One of my friends had to give up smoking because of the terrible caugh and her poor lungs. Her parents now are very happy. And she is happy as well.

Masha: To be healthy means for me to be happy as well. We discuss our bad habits. I got rid of some of them last year. I was a real sweet tooth. Chocolate, sweets, biscuits… I liked everything. Not liked but I ate a lot of sweet things. It was too much for my health. So, there were problems with my weight. My mum and me visited the doctor. He told me to give up sweets to lose weight. It was not easy to do it, but I made myself to give up that awful eating. Would you like to know when I did it? When I saw myself one day in the mirror I decided to get rid of my bad and dangerous habit. You see, I have done enough to become slender and even slim. Now, looking in my mirror, I smile and say: «I have already done a lot of. And I am ready to do more for myself. And I feel myself great today. And I am happy»! Look in the mirror, smile at your face and feel yourself happy.

Leader 2: Thank you, Masha. You share your secrets with us. You've managed to get rid of sweet. Don't you eat sweet things at all?

Masha: Not so strong diet. A piece of cake or sometimes a sweet don't hurt me. I eat now more fruit and vegetables. I have to say, that I opened the taste of these fine things. I have learned to cook a lot of salads. I'd like you to taste one of them.

Leader 2: Oh, it's great. And what about the ingredients of this magic salad?

Masha: Here it is.

Ingrediants: 50g of red caviar, 100g of salmon, 4 eggs, 0,5 of glass of boiled rice, two onions, 200g of cabbage or salad, parsley, and mayonnaise.

1.  Cut salmon; 2. Boil eggs and cut; 3. Cut onions, 4. Mix all ingredients; 5. Put boiled rice, 6. Mix all ingredients; 7. Add mayonnaise; 8. Mix all ingredients; 9. Decorate the top of salad with red caviar and parsley; 10. And bon appetite!

Leader 2: Thank you, Masha. Though some people say that to feel them happy, it is necessary to eat a bar of chocolate, I am ready now to eat only salads.

Leader 1: Well, well, salads… and a great piece of meat, as well. Am I right?

Leader 2: But I would like to be slim and healthy. And nowadays it is well known that breakfast must be eaten every morning. Those who make time for it are always slimmer and the way, do you know what we shouldn't do while eating?

Leader 1: Do you know it, really?

Leader 2: Oh, my mum takes care of it. Then I know it very well. So, things you shouldn't do at the table are table manners.

Leader1: Will you remind them for us?

Leader 2: With great pleasure. You see I have even prepared special cards with them. So things you shouldn't do are:

Don't speak with your mouth full.

Never read while eating.

Don't lick your spoon.

Don't eat of your knife.

Don't put your elbows on the table.

Now you see I am so well-behaved boy.

Leader 1: Agree, agree, you are right. You are so the way, what's about sleeping? Does anybody have any interesting information about sleeping?

Lena: I don't have much information about it, but I know that when I have a good piece of sleeping at night I have got in the morning excellent mood. Besides you feel better, you look better. What I feel is like happiness.

Doctor: First of all, do you really have a sleep problem? Are you worrying about something before sleeping? You must try to solve all problems before going to bed. And if there is too much noise, use earplugs. If there is too much light, use eyeshades. Keep to a regular time to go to bed. Don't work or do anything stressful just before you go to bed. Reading something boring will help you. And in the morning you will be energetic and happy.

Leader 1: Good rest is great. What else can make us happy? Mike spoke today about making friends while visiting sport clubs. I am sure the more friends we have got, the better and happier our life is.

Mike: We all need friends. They prevent us from getting lonely. I have got a best friend of mine. I trust him. And we respect each other, our views, tastes. We are really dear to each other. We go in for sports and have got much in common. When I am in trouble my friend says to me: Don't worry, be happy. And we begin to sing the famous song by Bobby McFerrin. Let me introduce my friend. This is Max. He is a student.

Leader 1: Nice to meet you, Max. Will you sing this song for us?

Max: We'll do it with great pleasure.

Natasha: I am sure it is impossible. We understand the song they have just sung is full of humor. But if we take some life trouble easier then we are much happier. Everybody remembers the famous expression: take it easy. Besides, there is a lot of pleasant things in our life to be valued and noticed. Well, dear friends, look around, watch everything you have got in your life and be happy! I behave myself like that. And I decided to write about it. Here is my experience:

Nick: I think that in spite of having home and love a person can have some kind of trouble, even if you are satisfied and successful. So if you fail, don't be disappointed with your life. Try to learn a useful lesson. And you will be wiser next time. Every time you have got some kind of trouble say to yourself: It's better than it seems or it would be much worse.

Psychologist: Dear friends, I was listening to you all this time very attentively. There were a lot of great so called happy recipes. I would like to say you keep the right way of life. You are the positive young men with a sense of humor. Now there are some more notes if you like. If you are in trouble don't be alone in it. Try to share your unpleasant emotions with somebody close to you.

And don't forget about crying. It will help you to get rid of bad chemicals. And while speaking with your friends or relatives try to listen to their positive advice. Be social, because people with friends and close persons live longer.

Remember that if you want to be happy in life you should love people, smile at their faces and look in their eyes.

Join something – a drama society or a kind of club like ours. People who are not alone are always optimistic, successful and much happier.

Remember, there is no life like present. Remember everything and follow it. And Life will be grateful to you and be sure it will award you!
