Внеклассная работа по иностранному языку – одно из необходимых условий для расширения и углубления знаний по предмету, развития умений и совершенствования навыков коммуникативной деятельности.

Далеко не каждый ученик в силу своих индивидуальных особенностей и ряду объективных причин может добиться успеха на уроке. Но человеку необходимо демонстрировать свои достижения с целью добиться признания и успеха. Ведь успех и поощрение достижений – необходимое условие для мотивации его дальнейшей деятельности и самоутверждения.

В этом смысле внеклассная работа по предмету, снимая напряжение урока, предоставляет учителю и учащимся возможность установить более близкий, непринужденный, дружеский контакт, снять определенные трудности в общении и дать шанс даже не совсем успешному ученику раскрыть свои способности и поверить в свои силы. Все это способствует приобретению навыков самостоятельной работы по предмету, накоплению знаний, активизации и совершенствованию коммуникативной и творческой деятельности.

Материалы данного пособия дают возможность организовать тематические мероприятия при проведении Недели английского языка в школе, работу драматического кружка и других периодических форм работы по английскому языку (конкурсов, викторин, концертов и др). Ряд материалов, таких как двигательная активность, рифмовки, стихи, загадки, юмор, пословицы и поговорки, песни, короткие диалоги, кроссворды, пазлы, речевые образцы, скетчи, скороговорки, могут стать полезным дополнением для развития интереса и познавательной деятельности учащихся, как во внеклассной работе, так и на уроке. Цель внеклассной работы по английскому языку - демонстрация достижений учащихся в изучении предмета, повышение уровня владения иностранной речью, развитие творческих способностей, мотивация для дальнейшего совершенствования учебной и внеклассной работы по предмету, воспитание разносторонне развитой и социально успешной личности.

Teacher: Hello, boys and girls!

Teacher: How are you?

Pupils: Thank you, we are fine!

They sing: Dear teacher, we are fine,

We got up, got up at nine.

We are ready, ask us, please:

Mary, Nick and Pete, and Liz.

Teacher: Well, who's on duty today?

Pupil on duty: I'm on duty today.

Teacher sings: What is your name?

What is your name?

Now, tell me, please,

What is your name?

Pupil on duty: My name is Mary,

(sings) My name is Mary,

That's my name!

Teacher: Well, Mary. Is it difficult to learn English?

Mary: No, it is not.

Pets are outside. From time to time they appear in the window. Pupils see them.

Pupils: Look, somebody is watching us!

Teacher (comes to the window):

What are you doing there?

Pets: We are listening to your lesson.

Teacher: Who are you?

Pets: We are pupils' pets. We go to school together. (say together)

May I come in? I'd like to learn English!

Teacher (to the pupils):

Are you ready to help your pets?

Pupils: Yes, we are. They are our friends!

Teacher: So, you are welcome!

Pets come into the classroom.

Teacher: Dear friends, what can you do? Can you read and write?

Pets: No, we can't. But we can dance and sing.

Dogs sing, cats and mice dance, pupils clap their hands.

We are dogs, bow-wow-wow-wow,

How to learn your English, how?

We would like to read and speak.

Can you help us, Liz and Nick?

Cats sing, dogs and mice dance, pupils clap their hands.

We are cats, pussy cats,

I've got only one mitten (shows).

Kittens: We are friendly pussy-cats,

And we visit many flats.

A hundred stories live around,

Three kittens go away.

The fourth one (Lucky) begins to sing and dance:

I'm brave and I am right,

I've got very keen eyesight.

I like to sing and dance and play

From morning till night,

And every day.

Mice in the corner are listening to them, they say:

But you are often very lazy. You don't like to wash in the morning.

You don't like your morning exercises. You like only sour cream.

Lucky: I can't say «no», I like sour cream.

A lot of cream! It's my dream!

Lucky lies down on the carpet and sleeps.

Three mice dance and sing

( music of «A kind beetle»):

He is sleeping, that is nice,

Very nice, very nice.

And he can't, he can't catch us,

Oh, he can't catch us!

Mice (one by one):

We are going to have a great lunch!

We are going to steal a great piece of cheese!

Lucky can't catch us. He is sleeping. He is lazy.

Lucky: Oh, mice you are crazy. I'm sleeping. But I am watching them.

They don't know about it.

Mistress appears, mice hide behind the cupboard.

Mistress opens the cupboard:

Oh, no! There isn't anything in the cupboard. I can't cook.

I can see some cheese. So, I go shopping.

She comes to the kitten:

My dear pussy cat, you are so nice and funny. Sleep, my dear. Be strong and protect us from mice. I'll take care of you.

She leaves the room. Mice appear.

Mice (one by one):

Oh, there is a great piece of cheese in the cupboard.

Forward, my friends! I am the bravest mouse! Follow me!

It is dark. Nobody can see us.

And Lucky is sleeping now.

They dance around Lucky, pull his tail, and look for yummy food in the cupboard.

Lucky says in a low voice:

My mistress takes care of me. She is so kind. I must protect her. I

would like to be strong.

Lucky's sisters and Mother, the cat appear:

Dear brother, Mummy can help you!

Mummy: Let's do our morning exercises together.

They move according to the contents:

Let us run like a dog.

Let us jump like a frog.

Let us swim like a wale

Day and night, night and day.

Like a monkey we can climb,

Like a bird we can fly.

We can fly into the sky.

We can dance, dance, dance,

That's not difficult to us.

Lucky: I am so strong! I am so brave. I can protect her every day!

It's time to act!

Lucky demonstrates his muscles.

Lucky to the mice:

Come to me. I am not angry, I am not bad. I'm very kind.

I'm a nice cat.

Lucky sings:

Believe me, my dear mice.

I'll give you some tasty rice,

I'll give you a lot of cheese,

Oh, will you come to me? Please!

Mice:

No, it's dangerous to play with cats. Let us sing and dance in a ring.

Lucky slowly moves to the mice, after that he catches two mice, the third mouse jumps away.

Mouse: Oh, dear mummy, help us. My brothers are in danger!

Lucky would like to eat them.

Mother, the mouse appears and says:

If you are naughty, you can get a lot of trouble.

Dear Lucky, let them come to me. I love my little silly mice.

Mice: We promise to be clever and good. We promise to be dutiful.

We promise not to steal.

Lucky: Mothers are not strict. They are clever. They learn and know a lot

of things. And now, let us live on friendly terms. Let us sing and dance

in a ring!

They dance and sing in a ring:

Join, my friends our ring,

We can turn around,

We can dance, we can sing

In a merry round.

Give your hand, take my hand,

Let us go around,

We are friends, real friends

Cinderella

Characters: Cinderella;

Stepmother;

Angryna, the 1st sister;

Greedyna, the 2nd sister;

Story-teller in front of the curtain begins to sing

( music of the song «Love story»):

Where do I begin to tell the story,

Of how great love can be,

The sweet love story

That is older than the sea,

The simple truth about the love

She brings to me?

Where do I start?

So, I would like to start here and now.

Once there lived a noble man. He had got a daughter. She was very kind and beautiful. He had got a wife, but she died. And he married again. His second wife was very greedy and angry. Her daughters were like their mother Do you believe me? Believe me or not. But you can see everything yourselves.

Setting: In the large room. There is a table and two armchairs in the room. On the wall there is a big mirror, a picture and a clock. It's evening. Cinderella comes into the room with a candle in her hand.

Cinderella: Oh, it is so late. But I have a lot of work to do.

She continues to tidy the room. Two sisters appear. They come up to the

mirror and try on their bright hats, belts, gloves and jewels.

Greedyna: Well, Cinderella, do you like it? I am sure that nobody will have got the same. You know, there will be a great ball in the king's palace. We are invited by the king. We'll see the young prince. We are going to dance with him. Would you like to visit the ball?

Angryna: Oh, dear sister, don't speak about it. Who can invite the girl who's wearing such an old and dirty dress? You know, she usually sleeps on the box with ashes.

Greedyna: Well, well, dear. Besides it, she hasn't got any spare time to do

it. She must work hard from morning till night. I am not going

to do it instead of her. It's her duty.

Stepmother appears with a great plate that is full of various seeds:

You are right, my dear. Cinderella, you must sort out these seeds, then beans, then lens and so on. Be ready to the early morning. Then begin to clean, to cook, to sew, to knit, to dig the garden, to water the flowers. Don't be lazy. Be ready to work hard.

She tries on her new hat, they sing:

We are nice, we are the best.

We like to sleep and have a rest.

Our faces are so white,

Our jewels are so bright.

We are going to have a rest,

We are fine, we are the best!

They leave the room.

Cinderella is in front of the big plate. She begins to cry:

Oh, how can I do it? Is it possible? I have to work without a rest and sleeping. Nobody can help me. So unhappy am I!

Suddenly she hears some birds' voices. Some birds appear in front of her.

Birds: You are a very hardworking girl. You are a very kindhearted

girl. You always give us some seeds. Don't cry, Cinderella.

We can help you. Don't cry. Spring is coming to our place.

It will bring you some luck!

They work together, dance and sing:

In the merry month of May

All the birds are very gay.

They all fly and sing and say:

Winter days are far away,

Winter days are far away,

Then will come a happy day.

Cinderella, don't cry.

You're so beautiful and fine.

We can help you, have a rest.

Cinderella, you're the best!

The birds fly away.

Voices: Cinderella, we are starting. Try to do your best in everything. Farewell, dear sister. Don't be sad.

And they laugh. The song is coming nearer and nearer. Margaret, the fair appears. She sings:

Right the next corner, in the next street

Adventure lies in wait for you,

Right the next corner, in the next street

Adventure flies in wait for you.

Right the next corner, in the next street

Adventure lies in wait for you.

Right the next corner, in the next street

Love may be flies in wait for you.

Margaret: Why are you crying, my dear? What happened?

Cinderella: You see, my clothes are so dirty. I can't go to the ball in the king's palace.

Margaret: Don't cry, I'll take care of you. There outside everything

is ready for your adventure. Go to the ball. But

remember, you have to come back before twelve

o'clock. Otherwise, my magic will lose its strength.

And your dress will turn into old and dirty, your horses into fat rats.

Cinderella: Well, well, my dear godmother. Don't worry. I'll be back

on time. I won't be late.

Curtain falls

Storyteller: Cinderella came to the ball. Richard and the king

met her. Her dress was the best. She was the

the most beautiful girl. Richard could neither eat

nor drink. He fall in love. Cinderella was very happy.

They danced and danced together. She forgot the

fairy's words. But why to tell? Now you can see

what happened later yourselves.

Scene II

Setting: The hall is brightly decorated. There are a lot of guests in the hall.

They are well dressed. But Cinderella is the best. Cinderella and Richard

dance in the middle of the circle. Guests are around them.

Richard sings (music from the «Serenade of the Sun Valley»):

When you smile at me

I hear a gipsy violin,

When you dance with me

I'm in heaven when music begins.

Why do robins sing in December,

Whispering your name as I do?

Why when it is snowing

Violets are growing?

I know why and so do you!

The king comes up to Cinderella:

My dear young and charming lady, would like to

dance with me? I haven't done it for many years.

Will you dance with your poor old king?

Cinderella: My dear king, I'll do it with great pleasure.

They dance, all characters sing (the music of «The good beetle»):

Let us dance and let us sing,

Let us sing, let us sing,

You are our dear King,

Our dear King!

You, believe us,

You're the best,

Are the best, are the best.

We can dance without a rest,

Without any rest!

Suddenly Cinderella hears twelve sounds of the clock.

Cinderella: Oh, it's time to come back! I'm late.

My dear Godmother, I'm in a hurry!

She runs away, but loses her shoe. Richard sees the shoe, takes it and

he goes after Cinderella. But she disappears.

Guests: - Oh, what happened?

- Such an unusual girl!

- Does anybody know her?

- I'm sure, she is not from our place.

- I can't remember such a beautiful girl in our place.

Curtain falls

Storyteller: You see, Richard and Cinderella, they both fall in love! Richard wanted

to find Cinderella. His servants began to visit every house of the kingdom. They

tried on the crystal shoe to every girl in the house. Richard wanted to marry the

owner of the shoe. At last they came to Cinderella's house.

Scene III

Setting: The hall in Cinderella's house. There is a table, some chairs and

arm-chairs. Cinderella cleans the room.

She sings (music of the «Serenade of the Sun Valley»):

When you smile at me

I hear a gipsy violin,

When you dance with me

I'm in heaven when music begins.

Why do breezes blow every evening,

Whispering your name as I do?

Why have I the feeling

Stars are on my ceiling?

I know why and so do you!

Cindirella's stepmother and her daughters are trying on their new hats in

front of the mirror. King's servants appear. One of them has got along piece

of paper.

They say: - Listen to the king's decree!

- We have to try on this crystal shoe to every girl of the

kingdom.

- Richard, the prince decided to marry the owner of this shoe.

Angreena: Oh, it's me! Let me to try it on.

She tries the shoe on. Her mother helps her. But the shoe doesn't fit her. The girl is angry. She begins to cry.

Greegyna: Oh, my shoe. It's mine! Give it to me! I'll try it on!

She tries it on, but in vain. The shoe is too small for her foot. But she doesn't

like to return the shoe.

Servant: I'm sorry, young lady.

Then to Cinderella: Dear girl, will you come up to me?

Sisters: Oh, no, she isn't a lady. She always wears her dirty clothes.

She can't be a princess!

Servant: But we must try this shoe on to every girl of the kingdom.

Cinderella tries the shoe on. It fits her. Richard, the prince appears. Cinderella

shows the other shoe and put it on. Margaret, the fairy appears with the bright

raincoat in her hands. Cinderella puts it on. And everybody knows her. Richard

takes Cinderella by her hand. All the characters are on the stage. They are happy

and sing:

We are very happy today

On such a lovely and sunny day!

Let us sing it and say:

We are happy today.

We are ready to sing it and say,

That we are very happy today!

Let us sing it and say:

We are happy today.

Sleeping Beauty

Vocabulary:

Scenary: In the royal palace. The king sits in front of a baby's cradle.

There is a baby (a doll) in it. The king sings a lullaby (the music from the cartoon «Umka»):

Night is coming, dear, don't cry, I'm near,

Sleep, my charming baby, sleep,

Everybody's dreaming, though the wind is screaming.

Sleep, my charming baby, sleep.

Snow is everywhere, frost is here and there,

But your warm bed's wonderful.

Sleep, my charming baby, sleep the youngest lady,

'Cause your dad is powerful!

Queen appears: Honey, you love her so much!

King: Yes, she is the most beautiful baby of the kingdom. You know, she is the

God's gift.

Queen: Don't disturb her more. She is sleeping now. How are you going to call her?

King: I'm sure, the best name for her is Beauty.

Queen: It's time to christen her.

King: We have to think about godmothers and guests.

Queen: I'd like to see eight Fairies of our kingdom.

King: What's about the eighth Fairy of our kingdom? Nobody saw her. I think

she died. Besides, we have got only seven gold boxes with spoons, forks and knives for them.

Queen: Well, let it be seven.

Story-teller in front of the curtain:

Parents are always sure that they can protect their children from all troubles.

They are sure that they can help their children in any difficult situation. Is it true? Do their dreams come true? Let us see.

Scene II

Scenary: The hall of the palace is brightly decorated. The royal family meets the Fairies.

King: Welcome to our palace, dear guests. We are glad to see you.

Queen: It's a great honor to meet you.

Fairies: Thank you for invitation. We came with our gifts for the young charming princess.

Fairy 1: Our princess will be the most beautiful and charming girl in the world.

Fairy 2: As for me, I make her a present of the kindest heart.

Fairy 3: She will dance best of all. It's my present for her.

Fairy 4: Everybody will look at her with great delight!

Fairy 5: Her playing musical instruments will be perfect!

Fairy 6: Her singing will be like the sounds of a nightingale!

Fairies: And now we'd like to sing a song for our goddaughter.

They dance and sing:

Dear our daughter,

The God saved you to us.

The sun will shine for you,

And green trees, even grass

Will grow for you, will smile to you.

Oh, dear, we love you!

Fairy 7: Oh, you have forgotten about me! I'd like to make her a present

of splendid sewing and knitting.

The eighth fairy appears. That's the ugly Fairy Jealousy:

Well, well, sewing and knitting… Who has forgotten to invite me to the party?

Oh, you, you have forgotten to do it! You were too impolite. But I would like

to make a present for your daughter too. Now, listen to me! You, impolite persons, be ready for your daughter's death! It will happen at the age of sixteen.

She will like knitting. It will bring you a lot of harm. You won't be able to protect her from death. Nobody will be able to save her.

Faires: Oh, shame on you! This charming baby was born for happiness.

Fairy 8: But I am a witch. And I have already decided. She has to die!

The youngest Fairy: I am not so powerful as you. I only began to learn how to become a great magician. But I'll try to do my best. The young lady mustn't die!

She will only fall asleep. And a handsome young man awakes her. Her parents won't protect her. Love will be able to save her.

King and Queen: Oh, my Gog! Let it be so! May all your words will come true!

Story-teller in front of the curtain:

We always hope that our dreams will come true. Do we usually do everything for it? I'm sure, everybody tries. The king and the Queen hope that they can help their daughter to avoid the horrible magic. How do they try to do it? Let us see.

Scene III

Setting: The royal family sits at the table in their dining-room. The servants stand behind them with trays and napkins in their hands. Princess tries to take a knife.

King: Well, honey, you can touch neither a knife nor a fork. They are very sharp. It's dangerous. You can prick your finger.

Princess: But daddy, how to eat, I wonder. Do you remember, I'm 16 years old? Isn't my care now what to do and not to do?

Queen: We agree with you. Now you are our grown-up daughter. But listen to your parents. Any parents know better what things are useful for their children, and what things are dangerous.

King: Well, sunny, your mum is right.

Princess: Oh, my dream is to become independent. Thank you, dear parents. I'm not hungry. You see, it's very hot in the dining-room. I'd like to have a walk. Let me go.

Queen: Have a walk, dear. Fresh air is very useful for young girls.

King and Queen go on with their dinner. Princess moves to the door and suddenly sees an old woman. Princess doesn't know that this woman is an ugly Fairy.

Princess: Hello, who are you? I don't know you. Where are you from? What are you doing here? What can I do for you?

Ugly Fairy: I am a poor old woman. I am from a small village. The village is far from your palace. I have just come to ask for some work. It is not easy to earn some living at our place.

Princess: I see. And what is there in your hands?

Ugly Fairy: It's a spindle and some wool. I spin wool and get some bread to eat.

Are you going to get married? So, you have to do everything.

Princess: I'll try to learn it.

She takes the spindle, pricks her finger, sees some blood and cries:

Oh, what happened? What does it mean?

Ugly Fairy: It's your destiny, it's your fate!

Ugly Fairy begins to sing, Sleeping Beauty begins to move, but slower and slower.

Ugly Fairy:

It's your destiny, it's your fate.

Do I like you? No, I hate!

Sleep, sleep and sleep,

And wait for your prick.

You won't be happy, you won't be loved.

I have done my Evil without any doubt!

Story-teller before curtain:

Are you grown-ups? Are you sure of it? May be you are. But there is a piece of advice. Listen to your parents from time to time. They are wise. Very often they know what to do and not to do. They have already got a great experience of life. And what's about our Beauty? Oh, she is sleeping. And her breathing is fresh and light.

Scene IV

Scenary: Princess is sleeping. The room is full of sleeping people. Some of them are sitting. Some of them are standing. They have got various poses.

Voices: Such an old palace. I have never seen something like that in our kingdom.

I think that thanks to our hunting we are now at somebody else's kingdom.

Prince and his servant appear.

Servant: Oh, my prince, have a look! It's something unusual. They are sleeping. I am afraid, it's a disease or a magic. If it is infectious, it's better for us to run away. So, come on, come on, my prince!

Prince: Just a minute. Let me see. I can't believe my eyes. There is a sleeping beauty here. I have heard a lot of legends about her. But how can I help her?

Servant: Well, my Prince, I am sure she is not alive. It's better to go and see the riches of this palace.

Prince: But she is the dearest rich for me in this palace.

He sings:

You're my Sleeping Beauty,

And you are my heart.

I have just you found,

Though it was too hard,

Hard to swim and hard to go,

And I'd like you to know

You are my love, you, only you.

What can I do for you?

Prince inclines towards Princess and touches her hand. Sleeping Beauty opens her eyes.

Princess: Is it time to get up? Oh, here you are, my prince. I have been sleeping for ages. I've been waiting for you for ages!

All people wake up after her words. They begin to move and speak.

Princess and Prince sing:

Make your magic, make your magic,

Try to open, my dear your heart.

And the golden sun will be shining,

And your life will start.

Touch the people's soul, my dear,

Meet a fairy at the door.

And the fairy will keep your laughing

You won't be sad no more.

Make your magic, make your magic,

Give to people love, don't be sad.

And the yellow moonlight will glisten,

On your way ahead.

Story-teller: What can save people? What can prevent us from Evil and Harm?

I'm sure that it will be Kindness and Love. Have you got another opinion? I don't think so.

All characters dance and sing together (the music «Make your magic»):

Make your magic!

Never lose this splendid feeling.

You are able, you are willing,

Yes, you're willing.

Make your magic!

Scene I
